While that outcome is clearly non-desirable, it's also clearly better than paying to store them and not use them. One-time cost of destruction is better than ongoing cost of storage/maintenance. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see them end up in the hands of responsible enthusiasts, but there's really not much in the way of good reason for keeping them in a warehouse collecting dust at the cost of taxpayer dollars, so if they're not going to be sold...

Or we let them outlast our current administration in hopes they eventually get to sameday see the light of day.

To what cost? It's not like there is a shortage of 1911's on the market.

True, but a real GI 1911 would be a cool addition to my gun safe. For a minute there, I was making a checklist of things I needed to get ready in order to make that deal happen. I guess I'll have to wait until 2017.

I'd fix your post, but the last time someone did that, one of the mods threatened suspension for the next person to do that.
Anyway, I'm sure you meant to say 2025, the end of Hillary's second term as president (and, hopefully, the start of her prison term).

I just pulled this off the CMP's Facebook site.

October 8, 2015

An update on the 1911’s…IT HAS PASSED THE SENATE!

The legislation has passed both the House and Senate. It will now head to the President’s desk for signature. If signed, we will meet with Army to develop procedures. All of this will take time. We have no further information. When information becomes available we will communicate with our customers.

Thank you,

Got an e-mail update from the CMP today.....

Update on the legislation on the 1911 pistols. The National Defense Appropriations Act has been vetoed. We have no further information at this time.

Thank you for your support,

Now it gets even more confusing.

I just saw this:

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/1 ... rmy-1911s/

Look at the second to the last paragraph on this link:

https://www.nraila.org/articles/2015112 ... provisions

My club, Beaverbrook, is a CMP affiliate club, so maybe I will get one!!!!

Sorry, this post seems to be a duplicate of this post, even though this tread was started earlier..... viewtopic.php?f=55&t=55316

The Garand Collector's Association doesn't seem to have a waiting list...

Our very own MN Rifle and Revolver Association is a CMP affiliate, and satisfies the club requirements for purchases. $15/year or 5 years for $60.

I saw a post from Mark Keefe announcing this, but nothing from CMP. I think it's probably best to wait for news from them before I start asking questions, but this is very encouraging.

On th either hand, my first priority was getting my NFA trust and suppressor situation figured out. We'll have to see how fast the 1911's become available, how much they sell for, and how much disposable income I have at the time.

One of these 1911's would be a nice addition to my M1!
