Ruger GP100 Wiley Clapp

Looked at one of these last year sometime, had some doubt and didn't pick it up, and it was gone before I made my mind up. You know the story. This year, they came out blued and with a brass bead instead of FO which I prefer so I reluctantly passed again. Saw this one lightly used at Gunstop for $100 less than best I had seen new and less than the lowest used price on GB, so I didn't let lightning strike twice. .

Goes nicely with the BPR punch card my intelligent and beautiful wife gave me for Christmas, so I decided to test it right out. I probably should not be nearly as proud as I am of this group of 24 357 rounds (2 shots off the paper) shot slow-speed DA at 30ft. DA trigger is ever so slightly smoother than my 90's era 686+. 357 rounds did not seem substantially more harsh than from my 6", which was somewhat surprising.

Congrats for getting what you want. The guys at gunship are nice to deal with. I think you'll love your gp.

Nice find. Been bugging Ruger to make a 44 mag with a barrel length like that. Had a Alaskan 44 mag but sold it. Ruger came out with a 2 3/4 inch Redhawk but still not interested. A 3 inch would be perfect. My 1st pistol was a S&W 686 combat special back in early 80's. Sweet pistol. Enjoy yours.

Very nice! Congrats!

This weekend I was at BVP with a few 1911s and a new to me 586 4"... had better groups with the revolver in DA even though I never shot it before... Go Figure :)

Nice! I love my 3" GP100 but I'm jealous of the sights on yours.

Yeah, there nice shooting for there size. The only major change I've considered doing to mine is replacing the rear sight with a U notch, the dot and square notch just doesn't seem quite right.

Oh, a word of warning to ya. If you have a SP 101 DO NOT let it near that gun, if you do you might end up with one of these.

HEY wait a minute.....thats stainless with a brass bead front sight. My Willy Clapp is stainless with a FO front sight.

Excuse me I need to go have a talking to with my revolvers

I'm jealous, too. I've been using my vanilla GP100 for the past 3 years in competition at Oakdale and BPR and I'm having a ball. Dern thing shoots better than I do. And, like Pat, I'm jealous of the sights, too! ;)
