Time for a new .22 for my wife

Postby Kelor on Tue Apr 05, 2016 7:15 pm

I know many of you will say she needs to pick it out, but I will say she will never do so. That being said, my wife has an older Walther P22. It's such a fun little gun, and she never has any issues with it, but she would really appreciate something new. I'm hoping to find something with the same reliability, but new and a bit different.

Any thoughts on the Taurus PT22? Maybe something with a much longer barrel? Maybe a revolver?

I'm not sure the Ruger suggestion was helpful

My wife wanted a new .22 earlier this year, she thought my Ruger Government Competitions were too long and muzzle heavy. We looked at everything we find, and tried out several.

She picked a stainless Buckmark Micro, and so far has been very pleased with it. The Gander in Blaine had them for $369. The blued versions were a little less, but she was sure they were heavier.

Technically, she could be correct depending on the alloys used.

My wife had a Taurus PT22 a few years ago and it was impossible to shoot well. She traded it to someone on one of the gun forums and it was soon for sale.
I have had good luck with Taurus and have or had several of them but would not wish the PT22 on anyone.
We currently have Ruger SR22's and like them.

Or a nice (and very new) S&W Victory?

I'm disappointed. This thread has been up for 11 hours, and no one posted the obvious...

A .22 for your wife?

Can't go wrong with a Ruger Mark III or 22/45. If she likes her Walther they make the new PPQ in 22 with a 5inch barrel that is alos very nice.
