To bad we can't lock up the wife and stick in the safe until needed like a used gun. Its there when you need it.

Beware the man who has one gun and knows how to use it.

The M9/92FS is more than capable and no less concealable than any other full size weapon.

It will come down to bullet selection more than anything.

I personally chose a 9mm Remington golden sabre for self defense rounds. I also use the 92FS platform.

I've owned S&W, Glock, sig, H&K, Taurus, Ruger, Springfield armory, kahr, and a few other brands over the year.

Pick what works for you. I carry a Glock 26 gen4.

My first gun I got as my 21 birthday present was a glock 22, still got it hardly shoot it and never carry it sense its huge. Second was a really cheap eaa revolver cheap junk sold it, then got a xd subcompact 40 still got that.
go find a gun that you like, can get glock 21, 22 ,23s for relatively cheap if you find the police trade ins. nothing wrong with used guns sometimes can get a really good deal on them. I carry a 640-1 mostly, Kimber 1911, and my xds45 and if it don't sell ill be carrying that again. From my experiences springfield and ruger has the best warrantys pay shipping both ways and were really nice to me. Sigs customer service is very very horrible never again. Glock was ok. Smith and Wesson seem to be made cheaply and have really bad triggers, my Taurus has a lighter trigger then my smith....
You get what you pay for the most part.

Pocket 380s hands down the glock 42
9mm- lots of options cant declare whats best but i do like my glock 19
40- id go with my xd subcompact
10mm- glock 29
357/ 38special- revolvers cant really go wrong with them they always will go bang no matter how badly you hold it
45- lots of options i use my ultra carry 2, or xds

As the previous poster said.....nothing wrong with used guns....UNLESS they've been "Bubbaed". The OP stated it was his first gun purchase, which implies that he may not know a whole lot about guns. When purchasing a used gun, it's helpful to know a lot about it so you know what to look for in wear and tear. I'd advise newbies to stick with new firearms until they become more familiar with guns in general and know what to look for in used guns. :D

A lot of good info already posted, but I'll add this. Find a gun store you are comfortable at, some are friendlier than others and I'd avoid the big box stores. Where are you located? If in the Metro area, I'd suggest Arnzen Arms. Their staff is comprised of real shooters that would be happy to help you out.

I'd stick with 9mm to simplify that side of it. If I were to make it real simple I'd say pick out a Glock 17, Springfield XDm and a S&W M&P and see what you like best. Even better if you can take them for a test drive. After you're comfortable with your choice and are ready to move on to carrying, Get the matching carry gun. Whether that be the Glock 42, XDs or Shield.

right, but basically all newer guns have lifetime warranty's. Iv bought used guns that right away have to mail them in cause of something stupid, my m1a and ruger new vaquero. Its very annoying but good customer service always is a huge plus.
He said he has military so he knows his way around guns so being new not really..... iv been around guns my whole life didn't much care for them ( was happy with my hunting guns and my glock) till Obama said I couldn't have them almost 4 years ago. iv made some opps buying mistakes over paid for my ak47 during the ban push. Finding a good reputable dealer close by or online makes things a lot better finding a decent price on a gun.
