I've been saying for years that Colt should get back to making double action revolvers. Is it happening?

Would get more if they were available reasonably.

I think their DA is better than smith's, but a big part was all the hand finishing they did to the mechanism. Not sure if it will be economical to make new ones at a reasonable price point. We shall see.

I doubt it would decrease the value of a legacy Python. P&R Smith and Wessons are still in high demand despite current production.

I agree, I have my doubts that the quality can surpass the original but then again the technology available is impressive.

It depends on what you consider a reasonable price point. Right now they would have buyers lined up around the block ready to pay $1500-2000 for a new base model Python. And even a assembly-line design that they could pump out quickly, like the King Cobra, would have many buyers at $1000-1200

Considering I've seen their subcompact 1911's on the shelf with non-functional safeties, I'd question the fit/finish of any gun they make that's not 100% production-run assembly.

Even if they were a little rough out of the box, if the price was right you could massage it yourself and get a honey. Street price would determine how viable that option is.

So probably $625-650 in real life. They will sell well at that price

I have a Cobra from the mid-60s that I carry very rarely, but I may need an upgrade that will handle a +P diet and has a shrouded ejector rod
