Rock Island has a 10mm for around $600ish that seems to be a popular item (some of them I've seen were well built from outward appearances). If Ruger has this in the $750-850 range, they might peel some of that business with stainless and their brand recognition. The $1050 MSRP suggests it likely won't be too far off that bracket when it hits shelves.

Sam's right about wanting full house 10mm. No sense in getting the longer case and not stuffing it. With the brown bears we've been dealing with up North this year, having more punch than .45 acp is looking more and more attractive. Of course I do have that STI frame in the safe still...

Brown bears? I didn't know you'd find them here. See Rodentmans 460 thread for the solution to that problem.

Black bears. Not sure where brown came from. Maybe my spell check was working against my white privilege and trying to combat perceived racism? :rotf:

Unless there were some gay guys in the army I wasn't aware of, I've never encountered a brown bear that wasn't cheap Russian ammo or already dead and stuffed.

And as you might suspect, the term "Brown Bear" is MORE than folksy enough to have a brand of snoose (Minnezotah spelling, yah, suure, yew betcha!) named after it. The health warning is at least accurate, and this is one Brown Bear you can't use a 10mm to kill or run off.

Sam, I don't mean to pick on your age, but the term snoose hasn't been used since people transitioned from rock and chisel to quill and goat skin (don't you remember writing down that date?). Care to join us in the 21st Century? :rotf:

10mm is a great caliber! Fun to shoot and I don't find the recoil an issue at all. But I've never bought any factory ammo, just started out getting brass from Starline and using 180-200g bullets.

10mm is my favorite. It is a very versatile round. I tried everything from 135 to 220 grain loadings and really enjoy it. I carry a Glock 29 when I'm in the woods, and feel confident that the 220 grain hardcast lead will be sufficient for most situations. It's no .44 magnum, but it I can't argue with 11 rounds without changing magazines or using speedloaders.

Sig Sauer loads 10mm hotter than typical (1250 ft/sec vs. 1050 ft/sec). I shot some while I was at the Gander range in Lakeville. The range officer and guy working the counter must have never seen a 10mm shot before, but they were wondering why anyone would shoot 10mm in a smallish gun. I said, "because it's fun."

There's a chap who frequents BPR who has a 610 punched out to 10mm magnum. Now THAT would be even more fun.

I wouldn't mind having a .357 maximum too. If they were readily available I'd probably buy one of each. I have been a fool for lesser things.
