From all the different LGS I’ve visited in the last couple of weeks, they all seem to have the red head step child 40sw firearms on sale. ALL of them. Same for the last gun show I attended. Just saying.

I have to say my first handgun was a forty, I really like it (original XDm). That said, I'll never buy another forty, I just don't see the point in that round.

$390 is not much higher than what I paid for XD40 pistols 15 years ago.

Of the last 5 pistols I purchased, 3 have been 40s. My main carry guns are 40s unless I have the 9mm conversion barrel. I carry the 40 as it is the largest, easy to acquire, cartridge that fits in that size frame. I'm a pessimist and do not believe bullets will always work as advertised and am of the old school that a 9mm can expand to 40 caliber but a 40 will not shrink downward. Bigger is better within reason and if a 45 ACP could be fit in the same frame and have a similar capacity I would carry it instead.

That is not entirely true. Bullets can be swagged down.

Although I wouldn't buy another 40, I wouldn't say it sucks either.

I had no plans on buying a 40 either. But this deal was pretty sweet. And I can always convert it to 9mm if I want to invest in a barrel and mags.

What kind of rifle are you shooting? My .40 S&W handgun rounds are 165gr to 195gr and in the neighborhood of 1,000-1,200 FPS.
