AR9 suggestions? UPDATED, Page 3!

I have a PSA and think it is the hoot! Never a problem. Cheap, reliable, low recoil and accurate with 50 yard expectations. Never shot at 100. Oh and the price was very reasonable for a entry level AR9. I talk with the JP guys once and a while, AR9's are super HOT.

I'm revisiting this thread since I'm still on the hunt for an AR9 that fills my needs.
Just So you don't have to go back to the first thread, here are my requirements.
I have some things I absolutely need in it. I want the controls to be as close to an ar15 as possible and I want it to be a pistol.
1. It needs to be reliable with FMJ's or HP's.
2. Needs to take factory Glock mags and they need to drop free.
3. Needs to have a last round bolt hold open, that holds open every time.
4. Needs to be able to use a BAD lever for bolt hold open and release.
5. Needs to be able to accept any standard AR15 trigger.
6. "Hoping" to be able to use any AR15 charging handles.

I have no problem either buying it complete, or putting it together. I don't care if it's a dedicated lower or mag well drop in as long as it's reliable. My main problem is finding one that has LRBHO and accepts a BAD lever (or equivalent)


JP - No BAD lever
Wilson Combat - no BAD lever, no standard triggers
NFA - No BAD lever
Karri's - No LRBHO, unreliable w/some HP's
YHM - Yes to all points (closed due to covid)
QC10 - No BAD lever
PSA - - No LRBHO, iffy on BAD lever and CH.
Angstadt Arms - BAD lever makes LRBHO unreliable
Wolfpack Armory - Side charging only
CMMG Guard - BAD lever not guaranteed to fit in trigger guard
Freedom Ordnance - No BAD levers or standard CH
Lead Star Arms -

Check out New Frontier Armory. They seem to be low on stock, but it seems to hit your list of wants. I have only about 300 rounds through mine and no issues even with cheap ETM mags. I did not opt for LRBO just because I’m cheap. I was reluctant to order one at first because of some of the dorky engravings, but the fit and finish is very good. The only complaint is the cheap bird cage phosphate seems poor and is starting to rust.

According to my last research, which was a while ago, a BAD lever would not work for some reason according to NFA. You don't happen to have one you could try do you?

I don’t have a bad lever, but I am guessing it still doesn’t work because of the dimensions of the NFA lower for Glock mags for that matter most Glock Ar9 lowers. The bolt catch area is noticeably thicker and has other raised areas on the lower that may interfere. It’s been a awhile since I’ve played with ARs and all I saw on the NFA site was a list if BAD (Battle Arms Design) parts and assumed it was the lever. It was just an extended bolt release not the lever. My bad (pun intended). May be on your own for the lever. Maybe find a good welder..

Why is the bad lever one of your requirements? Is there not another solution? I mean I get wanting what you want. Just curious if there is another way to skin the cat.

Because I really like them. All of my AR's have them and I'm so used to them, I want to keep all my guns the same. I'm not worried about the "battlefield pickup theory" I just want all my AR's to be the same.

The Redi Release isnt designed to hold the bolt open like the BAD lever is though.

I think the Creedmoor one also doesn't do that, but more importantly, I don't like that you have to put your finger inside the trigger guard to use it .

I do like the phase 5 lever though.

I replaced the Bad lever on my competition AR with the Redi-Release and never looked back. The Bad lever caused my bolt catch release to trip on my last round maybe 50% of the time. I've never had an issue with the Redi-Release.

1) fun as heck to shoot
2) cheap plentiful ammo when not in a pandemic
3) handy self defense round in a compact package if you go sbr
4) easy to clean
5) almost no recoil
6) fun as heck to shoot
