How's that for an answer?"

ok thanks, i didn't now you had to knock things down when shooting steal. i think .25 get a bad rap with all teh "hand cannon" calibers out there like 9 mm and 38 specials. get a history book and u will see that .25 is a proovin manstopper!

i want to buy a glock 25 with my refund from uncle sam, but i dont know if thE Wife will allow it tho. :(

I think you're a troll. A funny troll, but still a troll. Have fun. Oh, and the Glock discussion. is here in case you wanted to extol on the many virtues of the massive Glock 25, a true "hand cannon".

We've been over this, calling somebody a troll is a personal attack. If, indeed, J/O is gone, I suppose the mods will give you a pass. :rulez:

I think J/O was just a little slow/uninformed.

Why you ask?

It's because the paradox that occurred in your homeland: the Jupilee Brewery bought up the best range in Liege and bulldozed it to expand their production. :x :D

Come along and enjoy the shooting out at Hutch, here are a few requirements for you.

BE SAFE,
Enjoy yourself,
BE SAFE,
Bring food and drinks (non alcoholic until you finish shooting)
BE SAFE,
Bring lots of ammo,
BE SAFE,
Bring an I want to learn attitude
BE SAFE,
Bring a shoot the breeze, rag on the other guys attitude,
BE SAFE,
Bring a gun (9mm minimum as anything smaller will not knock down the Pepper Poppers)
BE SAFE,
Bring a holster (standard belt type OWB or IWB [no shoulder rigs or low riders for safety reasons])
BE SAFE,
Bring Foul weather gear (it's outdoor an range)
BE SAFE,
Bring Money ($10 for your entry, any more and one of these dudes will have you betting on something)
BE SAFE,
Bring something to sit on if you get tired
BE SAFE,
I think that's it.

Oh did I remember to tell you........BE SAFE. :D :D

See Ya There.
:D :D :D

I had no idea that there actually was a good range in Belgium. But I do formally apologize for the ignorance of my countrymen and I swear that on principle I will never drink any Jupiler beer again. It is a sad day. Jupiler, especially from tap when it is fresh and buttery, is one of the best pilsner-style beers.
Other than that, selurcspi and others, I think I have all the necessary requirements for finishing last on one of the steel shoots :D

I hope this redeems the Belgians a little bit:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7777312.stm

Police in Belgium say they have arrested 14 people suspected of being members of the al-Qaeda network.

Federal Prosecutor Johan Delmulle said police believed one of those held was planning to carry out a suicide attack.

The suspect had been given the go-ahead for the attack and had already said good-bye to his family, he added.

Correspondents say the authorities appear to have been prompted to act immediately as EU leaders were holding an end-of-year meeting in Brussels.

Security remains tight around the two-day summit in the capital, but Belgian police say it is no tighter than usual for such a gathering.

"It is clear that we have to take the terror threat seriously," Prime Minister Yves Leterme said as he entered the summit on Thursday.

'No choice'

Nearly 250 police officers carried out 16 raids overnight in Brussels and the eastern city of Liege, arrested a total of 14 men and women believed to be linked to al-Qaeda, officials said on Thursday.

Some had recently returned from Pakistan and Afghanistan and at least one might have been planning a suicide attack having talked of recording what was believed to be a martyrdom video, the authorities said. Computers and data storage equipment were also seized.

This information, linked to the fact that the EU summit is being held in Belgium at the moment, left us with no choice but to intervene today

Federal Prosecutor Johan Delmulle

Mr Delmulle said the suspects could have been targeting Pakistan or Afghanistan, "but it can't be ruled out that Belgium or Europe could have been the target".

The man suspected of planning the suicide attack had "received the green light to carry out an operation from which he was not expected to come back", the federal prosecutor quoted investigators as saying.

"He had said goodbye to his loved ones, because he wanted to enter paradise with a clear conscience," he added.

"This information, linked to the fact that the EU summit is being held in Belgium at the moment, left us with no choice but to intervene today."

Mr Delmulle said the raids were linked to a similar sweep last December, when 14 people were arrested by Belgian police on suspicion of planning to free a convicted al-Qaeda member, Nizar Trabelsi, but were subsequently released without charge.

He said an investigation had shown at the time that "a group of people were in Brussels with the task of committing an attack".

"It is now clear to all that we were dealing with a real risk," Belgium's justice and interior ministers later said in a statement.

"It is more than likely that an attack in Brussels has been prevented."

Security services suspect Trabelsi, a 37-year-old Tunisian sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2003 for plotting to bomb a Belgian air base two years earlier, has links with Islamist militants across Europe.

Officials have not released the names of all the people arrested on Thursday, but Belgian media are reporting that they include Malika El Aroud, a Moroccan-born Belgian online writer who was accused by a judge in 2003 of having "utterly extremist ideas".

Ms El Aroud's first husband, Abdessatar Dahmane, died in the suicide bombing in Afghanistan in September 2001 that killed the leader of the anti-Taleban Northern Alliance, Ahmed Shah Massoud.

This is a good thread, I hope to attend some if not all of the steel shoots this year but i gotta ask, i only have use of one arm, my left hand only has about 3 1/2lbs grip strength, will this be a problem, or does it mean i need to be a effing crazy good single handed shooter to make up for the penalty

Just come and do your best and remember that no matter what - if you are pressed into using your handgun - you will have had some really good practice no matter how you have to shoot it.

There are some tricks that can be learned from others that may just help you out someday when you need help the most...

Now there's an angle I hadn't considered. With govt help being all the rage lately, I'm going to look into what the ADA has to say about this.

When it comes to choosing which gun to shoot at a steel shoot, I'm conflicted between two, my Kimber 1911 and my Sig P220.
Both have been flawless so far when it comes to malfunctions, I shoot both equally crappy when it comes to speedshooting. I am considering the P220 because that is my carry gun and it would be neat to have more and different practise with it, the downside is that it has the DA/SA trigger so I fear I'll be wasting my first shot. At the range I will put that first shot COM every time, but that is at the range.... The Kimber would of course be SA only. I have Blackhawk Serpa holsters for both. Is it OK to cock the hammer before your first shot? What are other people doing that have guns with DA/SA triggers, say Beretta 92.

I'm no authority on it but if you do so safely, why not. You're losing time and gaining accuracy. It'd be like a Revolver shooter shooting the stages by cocking the hammer for SA shots..
