My 1911 failed me miserably at the IDPA classifier on Sunday evening. The kind SOs even let me re-shoot the first stage after a ton of malfunctions, but it didn't matter in the end.

Now, I'm shooting a $500 Taurus and not a $2k Nighthawk, but it has served me well up until recently. I'm not ready to give up on the 1911 platform, but I do have plans to switch to a plastic gun (not a Glock) in the near future for competition.

...you just lost a whole bunch of points...........

I am just saying, I can not go buy a new 1911 for $400 and have it perform as well out of the box as I could a Glock.... Going back to the different purposes they serve. If you could offer me a high end Kimber or something comparable, I would be all for it!

I have not done the steel shoots yet, I would love to try.

However, if my Glock performed better one the first time out that would be problematic to this argument. Hmmmm.... :)

But the title of this thread isn't Glock vs 1911: Which is More Affordable?

Finally a statement I agree with! They are better. They are better at being able to get cleaned in the dishwasher, they are better at keeping your lettcue fresh, they are better at "not setting off medal detektors" (thank God that diep sheit is gone  ) they are better at blowing up with a hot load, they are better at having the goofiest effin' grip angle I have ever seen, they are better at being ugly as hell.......

And in the case of my Glock 36, they are better at a type III malfunction on the very first trigger pull. Now how's THAT for reliability?!?

I'll be your hucleberry. I'll show up with the Glock 36 and let you win to help prove a point. ;)

No, but with a such a broad scope of 1911's it is not worth comparing to start with. Is a $2,000+ Nighthawk a better gun than a $400 Glock? Sure.

But that's like feeling vindicated by proving that a Chevy Corvette is a faster car than a Ford Escort... Not on the same level.

You need help Man. Mainly in the area of NOT making me spit coffee all over my keyboard. I will now have my employer send you a bill for the three keyboards to date I have ruined with your totally inappropriate, yet absolutely high-larious comments.

I have one Glock and a few 1911's, they all run and I would have no problem calling anyone of them up to play in the big league.

Strad, maybe that type 3 malfunction with the 36 was due to limp wrist. :didntdoit: :booyah: :rotf: :rotf: :catfight:
