And now the SR9 - i can't stand the trigger! even if you can get one for under $400, i would much rather spend the extra $100 on a glock and have a decent trigger out of the box than having to run a bunch of ammo or having a trigger job done to get it where it's comfortable. it seems like it's put together well, nice weight and balance.

I've enjoyed any ruger product i've ever owned as long as it was made/designed before 1995. what happened to the gun maker for the little guy?

Ruger should stick to revolvers perhaps ;-) I like the SP101 357Mag!

Or the tried and true No. 1.

I bought a SR-9 this winter and have put over 1200 rounds through it. It is a great gun, I will not qualify that with "at least mine is" or any other patronizing that may be deemed appropriate. It had 2 FTF in the first 100 rounds and no hiccups since. It has a fine trigger, not a 4 pounder but smooth and not too long. It is very accurate, which counts a lot to me, The sights are adjustable at the rear. it is easy to take down and clean, another big plus and it is fun to shot. I am not a one gun owner I have quite a few. The SR-9 is a good gun. Bashing it seems to be something alot of people like to do. I don't get it.... and if they have actually fired one and reloaded the mag and fired some more I put very little faith in their review. I would not give a review of a Taurus 24/7 that i shot 3 times or just dry fired. I would not offer more of a review on a Kimber then man are they sweet looking, I will not review a gun based on what I have heard from others.

I think the SR-9 is a fine gun. Did it have problems in the past......I guess it must have, do I care, nope they fixed them. Do they have similarities to other guns, who cares. Would I recomend it yes I would.is the trigger an issue, no it is not.you know when it will fire and it is consistant and short.

My first post on this site. I didn't realize I had so much to say.

If you like it, then that is excellent. Ruger has a market for the SR-9 for a reason. I just had a chance to fire it and really didn't enjoy it and I really didn't like the heavy trigger at all (I believe it is 7 pounds). The gun we shot, rented at Bill's Robbinsdale, suffered a few failure to feeds when my buddy shot it [he was considering buying it]. He had no such problem with the Glock 17 (5.5 pound trigger). Anyway, a lot of people DO like it. I don't "knock" the gun per se, but I don't particularly like it (just as many don't like the Glock 17 that I shoot when I shoot 9mm ... well, I shoot a Taurus PT92 occasionally) and I stated precisely reasons why. I just feel that for the money, you can do better if some of what I mentioned is a deficit to the reader and potential buyer.

There are many shooters with just as many preferences and requirements for the guns they shoot and that is why there is a market for so many different models. I guess what I am trying to say, that I, and others here, merely stated a preference, so I don't think you should feel compelled to defend your purchase [if you weren't doing that, my apologies]. I also have to say that the guy next to us was a US Marine and he had the .45ACP version of the SR-9 and absolutely loved it [and he was a great shot], so there you have it.
You could get a new lease on life -- if only you didn't need the first and last month in advance.

Well, recalls are a part of business, no matter what product it is, albeit cars or guns. Glock
recalled a bunch and Ruger has also. Doesn't make it a bad gun. Rugers have always been a
workhorse, and for $400 brand new for an SR9, I don't think you can beat it.

I am not compelled in any way to defend my purchase, I do not take web based chat forums personally. I was merely giving someone considering the SR-9 an opinion that was not in lock step with the others on the thread. I used my experiance to lend credibility to my claims not to justify them or state a preference.

My SR-9 is one of my favorite guns and probably the one I shoot most often. I like to shoot............so it would make sense to shoot a good gun most often. Thats all I am sayin'

I have had my SR9 for over a year now. Ruger redid the trigger as part of the recall last year.

I shoot a lot, including rimfire, revolver, autoloader and even shotgun. Several thousand rounds have been shot through the SR9 with no, repeat NO, failures.

The trigger is not great, I admit, but on the other hand you are not going to shoot your kneecap off when drawing it - and when necessary you can count on it to fire.

It's a good gun, and I recommend it.
