Both are good guns - but unless you make the commitment to learn to shoot a 1911 well - I think that it is a mistake to go to that platform. A 1911 is a real learning curve and it DOES have a safety that you must learn to manage under stress.
I would never trade a 100% reliable gun for an unknown commodity. 1911's can be twitchy According to the CEO Of Nighthawk Custom - you either buy a Taurus, or well a Nighthawk........ Funny huh (that is actually a direct quote.)
Just a couple of thoughts.
...speaking of mistakes, there are a number of them in this assessment....
and picking a 1911 is not one of them, unless you are brain cell challenged or are paraplegic.....
however I do understand that it is just an opinion of one shooter augmented by a particular manufacturer......
