considering it based on the size (for the wife's wee sized hands) and it's a 9mm (I wouldn't have to stock a different ammo on my home supply shelf). on line reviews are the usual, find one that loves it/find one that hates it.

Not been hearing good things, but we don't have a real definitive answer. Get one and tell us how it is.

Shot show media day experiences indicate it's not ready for prime time.

The Truth About Guns blog did a good review. It seems like an ok gun except that it's possible to put the slide release in wrong. The gun will function with the part installed improperly, until it doesn't.

That took the pistol out of the running for a carry gun, but it would be an interesting range gun. Not many others like it.

There's accusations that the positive reviews from 2013 were hand fitted guns, and that QC in production units is severely lacking.

I personally haven't seen one yet, but my gut says these need more time to work out birthing issues. This isn't a problem limited to Freedom group, or the design - it's common with many products - design teams don't always catch everything before the customer.

this doesn't surprise me.
While I agree new product issues are not always found before it reaches the customer be it firearms/toasters/TVs etc. The only thing going for Remington is it is a recognized brand and the uneducated flock to it because their gramps gave them a 870 that still works to this day. Freedom group only cares about money as any business should but there has to be a point where quality control matters. especially with firearms.

I spoke with cabelas rogers today and they indicated that they got 4 in, 2 were sold and 2 had to be shipped back due to issues.

the wife has a pretty good right hook when she needs it.. but I don't want that to be first choice

I had a chance to shoot a few rounds through it at a distributor show in January. I thought it was very nice shooting - I was able to shoot quickly/ get back on target fast and recoil wasn't an issue. I didn't get to shoot very many rounds though, so I can't comment on whether it will beat up your hand during a long range session. I didn't experience slide bite like the Truth About Guns reviewer, but with smaller hands, I never have that issue. My husband Dan has medium size hands and he didn't get bitten either though.

I am not a fan of the grip safety on it. Personally, I think it's way too easy to fail to disengage it, which takes it out of the running as a carry gun for me. I was with two different people at the January shows who both failed to disengage the grip safety sufficiently when they picked the gun up and tried to dry-fire it. I'm fine with 1911-style grip safeties, but this one hinges from the bottom of the frame, and it has a kind of positive "click" when it disengages.

We've had one through the shop, and the slide action definitely felt rougher/ more uneven that what I remember from handling them at the January shows. The demo guns at those shows probably got racked a ton of times though, which might've helped smooth them out.

Military arms channel got one and couldn't believe the condition it was in and it was meant to be put on the shelf for sale. A quick review and nothing good. 2 minute video. State of the art windage.

interesting feedback on the safety. from what I was able to gather I thought it would be like the 1911 also.
