Hey everyone,

I have a bare frame that needs this tube installed to move forward with the build. Any tips, tricks or suggestions on who could do this for me. This is a one time deal, so don't really want to invest in a specialized tool. I hear they have a knack of falling out if done incorrectly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You asked WHO - Ahlmans if you do not want to do it yourself.............
Else it is rather simple to do yourself for about $35: Strobel Plunger Tube Staking Tool 1911

I don't know how to do a good job without some type of staking tool. There are several types. Some are easier to use. Be sure to have the point of the staking tool adjusted to the correct depth and centered on the plunger tube post before staking it.

I also apply GREEN Locktite retaining compound, but I am a "belt and suspenders" kind of guy.

I've had a couple come loose from stock guns. None after I re-staked them.

I live in southern MN or you could use my staking tool. Any 1911 gunsmith will charge you about the price of the tool to do it. But he will do it right. Tools available from Midway or Brownell's. They will last you a lifetime.
