A look at the two pistols for EDC. I carry a G26 or G36, i don't own either of these in the opinion piece. Capacity seems to be the top draw along with trigger and sights for the more expensive SIG. Anyone else have an opinion?

I have have a G43, P365 and P365 XL.

The P365XL is my daily carry gun in a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2.

The G43 and P365 are good but I found them a little small. The P365XL is easier to shoot and carries just as well. The only reason I would choose the G43 or P365 is if I was to pocket carry them. The P365XL is a little large for that. If I want to pocket carry, I will use the P365 since it is similar to the P365XL. I have shot IDPA matches with all of these with no problems.

I have held but not shot the Glock G48 and would really consider that. I do not consider its 10 +1 versus the P365XL 12 +1 a drawback.

I am a 1911 guy. The P365XL feels very similar. The P365XL fits most of my 1911 holsters. That is probably why I like it so much.

The only suggestion for the P365XL would be to make the barrel 4 inches rather than the 3.6 inches it is.

Sounds like the grip angle preference is key.

Both brands have an almost cult like following that I've never really understood.

Glocks are soulless chunks of plastic and steel with about as much charm as a cinder block.

I have slightly less distain for Sigs, but only slightly.

Having said that, both are reliable, easy to find accessories for and accurate enough for pistol ranges.

My Glock 27 is one accurate mother for a sub compact. Allot more accurate than my SA SDM 4.5. Never owned a Sig.

Hey why the hate of cinder blocks?

For EDC shouldn't the emphasis be on reliability, concealability and more functionality as a tool for defense.
In my mind, I don't need pretty, I need competent.

The detectives I work with all seem happy with their 43s. The officers who carry 365s off duty also seem pleased with their choice.

I would say whatever fits your hand better. I have a 43, and use the +2 mag baseplates to give my fingers somewhere to go, and am happy. The 365 does carry more rounds, if that's important. I did not see 365s for sale used before the madness, but did see a couple 43s, if that info is meaningful.

I think you would be well served with either one.

I was in your same boat looking for a new EDC. I've decided on a Springfield Armory Hellcat. Same size as the Sig but 11+1 and 13+1 with the extended mag.

How do you like the Hellcat? My current EDC is a Glock 30, and I'm considering going with something a bit lighter. I prefer an EDC that can carry at least 10+1, and I'm not certain I want one with a manual (thumb) safety. I've carried Glocks for so long, I'm used to not having the manual safety.

I said "I decided on the Hellcat"... I didn't say any of my distributors filled my order yet.

I'm not in a hurry as I have a Kahr CM9 as my small gun carry. I'm waiting to get my discount on one.

I've had several customers get them in and have shot one. It feels good in my hand and shoots nicer than my Kahr. The Glock 43x a little feels nicer in my hand, but I like smaller size and more capacity of the hellcat.

The SiG is the only one of the microcompacts that I have been able to shoot decently.

Tried a bunch of glocks, M&P, SA, etc. even shot a Seecamp back in the day.

Grip angle is part of it- if I shoot glocks exclusively for a while, I get so than the 1911 guns don’t point properly.

Huh...No love for the Beretta. I have a Nano that I absolutely love. 6000 flawless rounds of everything I put through it small, sturdy, and accurate. I think its a little heavier than a G43 but that's the only place it loses any points IMO. It came with night sights and a laser. the laser is pretty good. Aside from the laser it a dead simple reliable little pocket 9mm.
