What 9mm to get?

Postby fotog54 on Mon Oct 18, 2010 5:01 pm

Okay I own a couple of polymer 9's and i was wanting to get something in all steel to complete my 9mm set. More than likely will buy something used, not looking for a collectors piece.

I want to keep the price around $400.00 so here is my short list:

Browning Hi-Power clone
RIA 1911 in 9mm
Taurus PT92
Tanfoglio EAA
CZ

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

a Sig Sauer P6 or P225 both can be had for under 400

ETA: they are really the same thing but the P6 is a variant of the 225 that was ordered for production by the West German Police

my carry gun is a P6

on your list i'd reccomend the tangfolio. highly underrated in my opinion. i think they're a great value pistol.

summit just had one on their confiscated section in 10mm for $275 - i can't remember the last time i cursed being broke so hard :x

Before I even opened this up, I was thinkin' Tanfoglio/CZ.

I've got a Colt Combat Commander in 9mm ... but I think that exceeds yer $400 budget. Image

I had a Taurus PT92 ... a wholly unremarkable gun, IMO.

I also had a newer Browning Hi-Power ... never actually shot it ... it was actually painful just to hold it with a firing grip.

And I've got a little Rock Island .45 I'd rather not have. Image

My buddy's got a S&W 9mm 1911 ... da Schwartz aside, I think it's "state of the art". Image

forgot all about the smith's. I had a 59 back in 1976 that i wish i had back... that would be a good choice... maybe a 659!

Got a bookmark to summit on my home computer... currently on the road in PA. No rush... just pondering my choices.

Yep, I would like a commander in 9mm but not in my budget!!!! :(

Sorry never owned a Sig but have never been a fan of them. I guess I have read too many reports of bad service and perhaps that has tainted me... probably not a fair conclusion.

CZ 75 B - it's hyper accurate and reliable.

Iv noticed that a lot too and even the die hard sig fans admit the newer sig stuff and the cs has gone downhill but the real praise is twards the older sigs that were made overseas and to a higher standard.

If I wasn't way up nord here I'd let ya run a few boxes through mine and see how you liked it.

I'll also toss in a go look at the tangfolios never shot one but heard nothing but good!

For a great gun in 9mm all metal frame accurate as can be and reliable.....CZ P-01 you will need to save an extra hundred bucks but you will not be sorry you did it!!!! If not then the CZ 75B. You can't say enough good things about it.

Third choice is the EAA Tangfolio steel full size. No nonsense good gun.

Good luck and enjoy what ever you end up with!
