Where are you guys going for 9mm ammo?

Postby autobahn on Sun Feb 06, 2011 11:57 am

I have an XDm now. I don't have any ammo yet.

Where are you guys going for ammo? Walmart had some in stock but I'd rather not pay $13/50 if I can avoid it. They had $10/50 federal boxes tagged on the shelf but they were nowhere to be found at 3 walmarts. I don't like walmart so going into 3 of them just about ruined my night.

Fleet Farm only seems to carry rifle ammo, unless I just wasn't looking hard enough.

Is the only real option these days to order online?

Reloading is the best real option. ;)

But ordering online by the case will save you some money.

The reloading bench.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

I have been reloading my own. Before I started reloading I would go to Joe's sporting goods in St. Paul. If you bought 10 or more boxes of Federal AE 115g it was right around $10/box out the door. That was last spring I don't know if has gone up.

At fleet farm the handgun ammo is behind the counter. You need the clerk to get it for you and show you license. I think the WWB was something like $22.00/100

Gunbroker.com but be careful of the pricing and the sellers like any on line auction. Buying 500 to 1000+ is best price wise since the shipping is one of the killers on ammo pricing. Hart to beat Wallyworld pricing on onesy twosy box prices.

txammo and ammotogo are a couple of sellers I have purchased 9mm from

I've also used AmmoMan, but they've been pretty picked over the last few years. Free shipping, though.

Sportsmans Guide in S St Paul. Goto the warehouse store, to the back counter -- catalog prices without shipping charges.

Just check to make sure they have what you want in stock at the warehouse store.

It's a list for 7.62X51, but most of them carry a lot of other ammo too

I've used The Armory for years. As posted shipping is a bit much but still far less when ordering 1000 rounds. 1000 of PMC 9mm is $200.00 now.

pay attention to where you are ordering from.

Get something from Florida for cheap, but the shipping will kill you.
