9mm Carry

Postby cyclerider06 on Wed Jul 06, 2011 10:18 pm

Been reading the forum for some time but this is my first post. I am wondering if anyone has shot the Kahr CM9 yet and if so what did you think of it. I am thinking of getting it for carrying. Also I am willing to hear any other thoughts on similar 9's if anyone has any suggestions. I already have a glock 26 but that just is to bulky for me to carry. Thanks!

I've shot the CW9 - found it too short for my tastes and fairly uncomfortable in my hand.

I'd recommend a PPS if you're looking for something in that size category

I have carried and shot a CW9 for over two years now. My only complaint is it is a little big for my taste. Other than that it is a gread 9mm. Very accurate for it's size.

I've shot the PPS a few times. Fits the hand beautifully and shoots well. Is there still a difference between the Walther and S&W versions (The Walther branded ones had a larger under the trigger guard mag release button). Only reason I don't own one is the mag release

I have the PM9 and no issues. They are as small as I would go for 9mm firearms before switch to 380.

I also have the P9 and that little bit on the frame makes a lot of difference. And while I carry flush fit magazine inserted, my back up magazines are the pinky extension attached mags or P9 mags.

I have owned R9, but I prefer the size of PM9. I will try to dig up my G26 to take some pictures later maybe.

Don't forget that Kahrs require a proper break in procedure. Most complaints come from stingy people that do not follow the break in procedure and/or do not shoot adequate amounts for training purposes.

Edit: I guess I already had some pictures on photobucket..... (I will make the first one visible, and I will probably remove these in a week or so to keep my bandwidth low)

I also carry the PM9 (pocket carry today in fact), works great with the Silent Thunder holster for IWB. Gun is great to shoot and accurate for its small frame for sure.

I know you're asking about the new CM9, but the size is identical... Kahr forum has a number of people saying they are quite happy, was one for sale on there that I think is still available.

I've shot a PM 9. Nice gun, well built, however it bit me. My grip doesn't work with it, and I'm not a fan of the sights.

You might take a look at the Taurus 709 slim, mine works great, but does not like Win. white box ammo.

I used a PM9 for a while. The slide lock lever and grip checkering were pretty aggressive and resulted in pain during extended shooting sessions. I sanded the grip a bit and later added an Agrip for better grip when my hands were sweaty. The factory took the sharp edges and points off the slide lock lever and I never had a problem with owies it again. I did have problems with MY PM9, but Kahr made it right. I've since moved to an MK9, pretty much same dimensions, all steel and a bit heavier and a slightly wider grip than a PM9/CW9 (good if you have bigger hands) but really easy to carry.

i've shot the pm9, owned the p9, and would reccomend something a little bigger, like the bersa thunder 9UC. it isn't much bigger and a heck of a lot more controllable, and much better capacity. single stacks are great, but what happens when you take that 6th or 7th shot?

what kind of holster do you carry the G26 in? you are only gaining something like .15 inches in width by trading. IIRC. going to a Kydex IWB might make up the difference in OAW.
