purchased a new Sig 1911 yesterday...

Postby rukwikenuf on Sun Jul 17, 2011 10:45 am

it looks like an amazing weapon, and it's a SigSauer to boot! it's the 1911 TacOps, came in the "TacPac" which means with 3 magazines and a kydex holster. supposed to have a speedloader, but they were out of stock, so i have to mail in a form to get mine. anyways, it is a really slick gun, and i can't wait to shoot it! i DID just have a Vasectomy on Friday (i have 2 little girls and another on the way), so i was too sore to head downstairs, i bought the gun at Bill's in Robbinsdale.
do any of you have experience with these guns? i'm wondering what kind of ammunition this thing is going to prefer to eat. i'll feed it whatever i can get to find out it's favorite, but i'd appreciat a solid starting point.

and i know, this thread is useless without pics, i'll get some up soon

And yet you weren't too sore to down to Bill's to buy it! 8-)

Congrats on the new Sig. We expect a full report, though undoubtedly it will be predictable. It will be great. It is a Sig after all. :D

yeah, my wife was giving me hell about that too. i really, REALLY wanted a gun. i've been thinking and shopping for months, and i NEEDED to get out of the house. i had my range bag in the trunk, with 150 rounds of .40s&w for my carry piece. i just could hardly stand as i was filling out the paperwork.

i'll make sure to get a full report soon, with an undoubtable "thumbs-up"

well, no pics, but i put 250 rounds of Winchester 230gr FMJ's down the pipe yesterday. i made sure that the gun was lubed, cleaned, and ready to shoot, then i shot the HELL out of it! i did not have any failures. period. no FTF, no FTE, no nothin', and it was a great feeling. also, i had read on the m1911.org site that there were a few people that were experiencing erradic ejection. supposedly, some people had the spent brass flying in their faces and attributed it to the external ejector. i did not have ANY issue.
this gun is more accurate than i am, which shouldn't surprise most of you, it is a SigSauer afterall
i was shooting solid 4" groups at the 21ft mark at Bill's Robbinsdale. that may not be too impressive for some, but to me it symbolizes a very, VERY dead bad-guy

I 'spose it's easier to sleep with that, than knowin' they were limp-wristin' it.

Other advantages include not having to wear paternity suits to work, not constantly getting calls to appear on the Maury show, and being able to sing castrato in the Vienna Boy's Choir. If you had to attend a funeral you'd be eminently qualifed to deliver the urology.

As a current vasectomy holder, I have to say "thank you" for supplying me with a wealth of new jokes I can use! Oh, and OP, nice gun by the way...
