There is no way a marine was able to string together enough words to write that. It must have been a marine's mother or something.

It’s Marine with a capital M.

Since you don’t have a choice in the National Guard you have to carry the M9. What is your civilian carry gun? Didn’t you say it was a 9mm? That is what my mom carries.

I have an M9 (an actual M9, not the civilian 92F, although there's not much difference except for assembly and NSN numbers stamped all over it) and I've found it to be an excellent pistol. I don't shoot it all that much, but I've got at least 1,000 through it and I don't think I've ever had a malfunction of any kind. It's accurate, is probably the most comfortable pistol to hold that I have, and I like the look of the exposed barrel. Pretty much the only thing I've ever heard bad about it is the caliber and some cracked slides, which I believe has been remedied.

Those of you here who don't like it, do you not like the gun itself, or just the caliber?

I was going to point that out too, but then I reread it.........
and I think that he was referring to marine, as in Navy, you know flotsam and jetsam in the water................ :booyah:

Don’t take anything I say to serious.

I’m not a fan of the 9mm. Not that I had function problems just personal. I’m not volunteering to get shot by it I just can handle and like .45. I hate to make this statement because I’m sure “I’m pissing in some peoples gas tanks.” But the .45 is more effective overall. That’s what I think and I have read more than what anyone here will try to tell me so save your breath and believe what you want and shoot what you want. That part wasn’t directed towards you Mr. Slam unless you were going to try and preach to me about the 9mm.

The M9 itself I didn’t like much. The reach to the trigger was a bit much, and the overall size. I had heard a lot about the cracked slide. I do think the Glock would have been a better choice. The fact that the 1911 never went out use in the military I think says a lot about both the .45 and 1911.

HammAR I think your right he couldnt be that clueless. Could he?

I do carry a 9mm in uniform and out. I will capitalize Marine from now on and admit that they had it right when they didn't require everyone to carry the M9. Because I don't like it either.

BUT I will not stop saying smartass things about Marines as it would go against everything the Army has taught me.

Not at all. I'm a firm believer in the .45 ACP cartridge, although I think 9mm has its place in certain applications, very few of which include things the military does. I have two 1911s and several more .45s from different manufacturers.

I also agree with your comments in comparison to the Glock. While I like the Beretta, I can see where it would be hard to get comfortable with it unless you have big hands (which I have). My carry gun is a Glock, and my IPSC gun is a Glock, so there you go. I'd use the Beretta more, but I don't like the trigger reset or the way the safety drops the hammer, effectively making it a de-cocker rather than a safety. I like cocked-and locked or "safe-action" myself. It's too bad, really, because my all-time favorite shooters are SIGs, but I never carry/compete with them because of the whole double-action first round thing.
