I don't own one, but as I understand it, there's THREE (
if not more) "action" types ... CZ75BSA (
single-action only), CZ75BD (
decocker), and nearly every other CZ75 made (
SA/DA + thumb-safety) ... the latter, affording C&L ... OR, if ya pinch the hammer 'tween yer weak-hand thumb 'n finger, and squeeze the trigger to release it, and ease it down, it's a first-shot DA.
As fer competition ... specifically USPSA, a 9mm would only be good fer Production ... so long as it ain't the "SA" model. Either of the other two would be ok. I'd think the "decocker" version would be a bit better fer new folks ... so they don't need to concern themselves with accidentally releasing the hammer whilst they squeeze the trigger. But I'm not prepared to go to war, over that.
Someone familiar with IDPA may chime in, but my guess is, the "normal" model might be ok fer SSP and ESP ... whereas, one of the others would otherwise be excluded from one of them.
FWIW, I believe if it's C&L, the trigger stays closer to the rear ... so there'd otherwise not be much of an "advantage" goin' with the "SA" fer jest that. Basically, the "SA" model's trigger wouldn't have as much of a curve to it ... but, when C&L, I don't know that it'd matter.
Fer competition, most folks doin' particularly well with CZ's are usin' the SP-01 (
"normal") model ...
