So just which Pat are you writing about, and who told you I was kinky, anyway...?
I believe he's referring to me this time but just hold still a moment and you'll get your turn. :)

And HammAR, I bet can still assemble a 1911 blindfolded (I tried it after watching Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman).

youtube has some great videos on detail disassembly/assembly.

That's how I learned to detail strip 1911s.

The first manual I used to detail strip my 1911 was a US Army field manual from 1940 which I downloaded from The Sight - sightm1911.com. The gun hasn't changed much since then, though a few other things have. Those were the days of corrosive primer chemistry, so the book says that if you leave your barrel uncleaned overnight there will be irreparable damage. I was very diligent about cleaning, for a while. I have since backslid into much more slovenly habits. I think there's also some advice about training your horse to tolerate gunfire. I don't recall any mention of eye or ear protection; the real men who whupped Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan didn't need that wussy stuff.

Let's see, I've got a Colt Gold Cup(45), and EMP(9), a STI(38 super) and Para(40). All of the 1911/2011 style and they all come apart about the same with some differences for bushings, extractors and sears. But gerenally speakingif you can detail strip one you won't have many spare parts when you do the others.

On that note, I'm in the western burbs and if anyone wants a to have a watch and learn 1911 disassemble night I'd be game to set it up somewhere.

While you guys figure out the bet at hand, I'd like to thank all involved. Last night proved to be a successful taketown and rebuild (extra parts left in the bag kept to a minimum) thanks to your info.

And now, on with the betting.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

I'll bet on the number of extra parts will be directly proportional to the number of pints consumed. :stirthepot: :rotf: :rotf:

Do we need to time this with a competition timer, or would a hour glass be adequate?

I was thinking a calendar might be appropriate. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
