best small .380

Postby Ron Burgundy on Sat Mar 17, 2012 1:31 pm

Opinions on the best small .380 on the market right now? By small, I'm thinking LCP, TCP, p3at, or Db380. The bersa and khars are larger than I'd like to throw in my pocket. I have a G26 but I'm looking for something smaller. Cheap is good too

best small .380

I've had a LCP, a Smith BodyGuard, and the Kahr P380. I liked the smith and the Kahr much more than the LCP, but the Kahr is what I decided to keep. It's also the smallest of the bunch and has the best trigger in my opinion. I'm also partial to the Kahrs sights. But for the money, the smith is a great deal.

With the prices, I don't think you can beat the lcp in my opinion. They're pocket SHTF guns, not much else. Fwiw...

I currently do not own one myself, but I've been eyeing the Bersa Thunder 380CC... it's the Concealed Carry model. I shoot the standard Thunder 380 at Bill's the other day and really enjoyed it. I think it's worth looking at.

For pocket carry...the LCP gets my vote.

Kahr P380

I think it is as small as any of the others. Had a KelTec P380. Kahr is much nicer.

Love the feel if the p238 but I hate external safeties. I guess I need to decide if I want one Khars ir two LCPs

Pocket gun duty goes to my Ruger LCP. It's been a great little gun, reliable with factory ammo or my reloads. Only thing it doesn't like is Blazer aluminum.
SIG P238 is just enough bigger that it doesn't pocket nicely for me.

well, if you want to actually shoot it, with any sort of regularity, the P238 is a great platform. IMHO it's easier to control than the rest. however, this is coming from someone who does NOT own a pocket gun. my idea of a good pocket gun would be the Kahr P45, but it's a lot bigger than any of the 380s mentioned

My LCP goes with me everywhere, either as a deep conceal or as a BUG. Has never jammed in the few 100 rds I've put through it, but is a bit tough to get used to shooting. I'm happy that my LGS up here has .380 LRN for about $11 a box after tax. Plenty of plinking rounds.
