SR9C rear sights

Postby sgruenhagen44 on Thu Aug 30, 2012 8:55 pm

Anyone on here own an Sr9c? I have tried moving the rear sights but they don't seem to want to move. In all reality for a carry gun it is close enough but I enjoy shooting just spots with it too. So any tips? Or has anyone encountered the same problem as me and just said screw it. And yes the locking screw is loose, I moved it way out.

Ruger pistol rear sights have always been tight-VERY tight in the dovetail. The SR9's are no exception. Take a plastic head hammer and give it a good whack to break it loose.

Well I need to buy a bullet puller soon, still don't have one. Wonder if that will work?

I have an SR9C that i carry and shoot at the range quite often. My sights were off when I bought it, but with some work using a plastic hammer I got it dialed in. It was very tight. I bought the hammer and punch kit on amazon i believe.

Yea, I got er to move this weekend. No way a plastic hammer would have worked. it took about 5 good whacks with a hammer on a brass punch. I think a moved it a hair too much though.

Good deal. How do you like the gun? I've had mine for about a year and a half and have put maybe 1200 rounds through it and I love it. The only change i've made is a little fire engine red enamel paint on the front site dot, just to add a little definition between front and rear sites.

Yea, I'm pretty happy with it. One day it had two malfunctions but my buddys sig x5 was not eating the same ammo though. Since then the only problem is when I slam a mag in, it won't always take a round in the chamber. IF i manually load it with the slide release, it takes a round every time. I'm hoping to shoot it more next year and get into action pistol. I got mine this summer and have probably ran about 1500 rounds through it. I wish I would have been patient and found a stainless one. For $450 bucks I don't think there is much out there better than that new.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread but it was relevant to my question so, you know, why start a new thread?

My SR9c rear sights are stuck all the way to the left (came that way from the retailer/factory)...Any ideas re: how to move them?

I adjust my aim accordingly for now but it's really annoying. BTW, this gun is so much fun. It is essentially my first handgun (had an LC9 for a few weeks) no issues whatsoever -- knock on wood! So fun.

YOu need the gun fully disassembled. Put the upper on a hard table and use a good sized brass punch and a hammer. Majes sure you loosen the allen head all the way too. The manual says plastic hammer. ********. Although some people on here will tell you that you if you're movin factory sights then yer doin something wrong.... :?
