Sights for Ruger sr40c

Postby Skarrde on Sun Nov 25, 2012 1:05 pm

Just picked up my first gun and got off a few shots yesterday. The weird thing was all my shoes were way off to the left. I looked at the front sight of the gun and saw that it is sitting off to the right of the notch that you can adjust in. I was just wondering if anyone new. Do they sight in the gun before shipping it off or so they just put it together, fire it and ship it out?

I'm adding a question, not being of much help -- apologies.

I bought my first handgun a few weeks ago (sr9c) and had a similar question. I assume that my shots to the left have more to due with improper grip/pull. While my front sight is lined up even, my rear sight is completely to the left within its slot? Why would it come from the factory like that? I can't imagine that they test it and I am not experienced enough to truly zero the sight (or am I?)...

So I have basically the same questions...and I find it a little weird that the sights would be so askew with a brand new firearm. Normal?

Edit:

PS: I LOVE this gun.

Have someone else shoot it. Someone who knows what they're doing. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here willing to help, and some of them know what they're doing :D You could also use a rest of some sort.
If it shoots fine, it's you and not the gun.

Cut through some of the crap here and you'll get the idea.
