Why no used M&Ps FS ?

Postby Rem700 on Sat Jan 12, 2013 9:59 am

Been watching but not very seriously for a M&P 9C see plenty of used Glocks and some Sigs on the various boards for sale but very seldom see any M&Ps let alone a 9C.

Those that have them, really like them and have no reason to sell.

... or have way too much money dumped into em, to make em reasonably nice, to ever hope to get even half of it, back out?! :|

I have a M&P9 that I have exactly $0 into other then the purchase price, Other then size I like it well enough to be considering a 9C.

It's just the market. I've sold a couple in the past and almost had to give them away.

The FS, 5" Pro and Shield have been hard to come by period the past 9 months or so. I was lucky to spot a 5" Pro at Arnzen a couple weeks back. People have been on waiting lists for 9-12 months for that gun.

Why no used M&Ps FS ?

Postby PhilaBOR on Sat Jan 12, 2013 3:18 pm

I like my M&P and have no interest in selling it, regardless of mods I've put into it. And how much do people dump into Glocks? Like those stock sights?

Although in fairness, if you correct for relative newness of the M&P line, total number out there, police agency changeovers, there may be proportionally the same percent turnover as Glocks or Sigs.

The one I have had was a "Pro", and still req'd the apex FSS before I'd shoot it! :|

I love all my m&P's. even the one that's a little gritty yet still predictable and easy to shoot. but then again I'm not a junior varsity operator wannabe so what do I know

I absolutely love my m&p. And yes, I have put some money into the trigger from Apex, but I am okay with that. I like to tinker with things.

My next pistol purchase will either be a 40c or a shield if they ever decide to be in stock somewhere.

This. I've had an M&P 9L for a couple of years. The trigger wasn't great out of the box, but I anticipated that so I saved some money and got the 9L instead of the Pro because I knew I was going to add a DCAEK, so I added a DCAEK for $90. It needed better sights so I have about $80 in a pair of Warrens. And although it shot well enough inside of 10 yards, I found that the best I could do was about a 6-inch group from a sandbag rest at 25 yards. Poor barrel lockup. So I dropped $200 having a Storm Lake match barrel hand-fitted to my slide. Now, it's a great gun and shoots very, very well. I like my PPQ better, though.

BTW, my M&P auto-forwards on magazine insertion about 80% of the time. Doesn't bother me, but hard to imagine it was intentionally designed.

The only thing I dont like about my M&P 9mm is that I can't feel the trigger reset. Aside from that it's proven to be a very reliable pistol, and I doubt I'll ever part with mine. My wife LOVES her M&P Pro!

Pretty sure all the FS M&Ps do this. As long as it strips a round when doing so it's a time saver. M&P also isn't the only brand to do this.

I'm going to guess everyone complaining about having to put parts on a gun after the fact has never owned an AR... or a 10/22 or a... :?
