Glock 19 Gen 4

Postby sawgrass on Fri Mar 01, 2013 9:59 am

For some reason I decided that I wanted a Gen 4 G19 to go with several Gen 3's.
After a lot of reading and not seeing any available I was skeptical about the quality and reliability of the Gen 4.

Then I walked into the Gunstop and there it was, brand new, test fired this year Jan. 18 2013.

I brought it home, cleaned it and loaded several magazines.

In the first 200 rounds, I shot 4 different reloads and some Federal Hydra Shok.
The ammo was 115 gr, 124gr and 130 gr. Bullets were poly coat, FMJ, and JHP.
The trigger reset felt more crisp than my Gen 3's, the recoil felt less, but I don't know if it really is.

There was not a single failure of any kind. It did not spit brass into my face. It ate 115gr just as well as 130gr.
So based upon that initial experience, it's more Glock Perfection to me.

Yep. Dual recoil spring is a change for the 19.

I have a buddy with a newer gen 4 G19 that spits brass in his face. I HAD one that was prone to FTF/FTE. The updated recoil spring changed that. It's the only Glock I've ever had issues with. I'm set on my Gen 3 9mm's for now. Though the Gen 4's do feel better in the hands and the recoil is less.

Awesome guns. I'm sure yours is good to go if you had no issues as mentioned.

If a new Glock were in the cards for me right now I think it would be a Gen 4 G26.

Man....congrats on that find. Seriously. Barry and Eric of Moss Pawn were just saying in a somewhat-recent video on you cannot find a Glock 19, 27 and a few other models (and other guns) right now at all. That is a rare find in these trying times. I'm glad you found it. Congrats man.

Glock 19 Gen 4

My Gen 4 19 has been flawless for the first 1000 rounds, 800 of them were my reloads.

Mine after a new spring and extractor is flawless. I had some brass to the face with the old 336 extractor. But the spring has very little difference as I use the old one to take to the range and the newer one to compete with and without everyday carry

Mine has been flawless. Not a single hiccup, right out of the box. I'm probably at 300-400 rounds, but I dont forsee having a problem at this point.

I think it was $559. Bullseye Range had them in stock last weekend for A LOT more.

I just came home from OGC after putting another 200 rounds through it. Again today not a single failure of any kind.
The only thing it needs is different sights. I shot a Gen 3 with Tru-Glo's, and a Gen 3 with a square night front sight (Ameriglo maybe)
and I shot both of them better.

I LOVE the grip on the Gen 4. Not as sharp as the RTF2 but better than the standard Gen 3 grip.

For some nutty reason I don't want to carry the Austrian proofed, or the RTF2 guns, as they are more difficult to replace.

So this one will go into the carry rotation along with a Gen3 G26. There is just something about a Glock that does it for me.

I don't know why this surprises you. If Glocks don't run right out of the box, with any kind of ammo, there is something wrong. I've owned a lot of them over the years, and I run them harder than most people, and failures (the kind not attributable to user error) are extremely rare.

Glock 19 Gen 4

I've owned two 19 gen 4s and both were flawless. I still own one in FDE and it's my EDC. Same exact story with 17 gen4s. Owned two, kept the FDE. Flawless thousands of rounds.

I own several Glocks and they have all been perfect right out of the box. However, I have read a lot of threads with people complaining about one thing or another regarding the Gen 4's. This is the first Gen 4 that I've purchased or shot. Just saying that it's a typical Glock and ran just great!

Wife's G19 gen 4 has all the updated parts, and never FTF or FTE, but still randomly spits brass all over. In the face, shoulders, overhead, to the right. Doesn't matter what ammo is used. It's annoying but at least it's reliable so I'm hesitant to start monkeying with it.

OK this last time out with the G19 and it spit all 50 rounds about two feet right. None in the face or shoulders . Dunno what gives, maybe they need a break in.
