Took my carry class

Postby Beard on Sat Mar 02, 2013 8:28 pm

Finally took my conceal and carry class today. Since I am fairly new to handguns I learned some helpful things in today on how to help me be safe and aware throughout my day and evening. Now I just have to wait a little bit till I can afford to drop my info off with the sheriff. Here is my target. We fired off 50 rounds total ranging from 5-15 yards.

Nice shooting, where did you take your class? I'm planning on taking a class as soon as I can find one that works with my busy schedule.

I took it up in a little town of Pine River. North of Brainerd.

Congrats. Do you have your carry setup chosen already?

Thanks. I am going to carry my SR9c and I am planning on carrying a Old Faithful IWB hip holster.

Not a holster I have seen in person, but I am a fan of the style. They are quite comfortable!

I thought that target looked awfully familiar, and that the timing of your post was coincidental.... I was there too doing the class since I'll be due for renewal! (judging by your board name, I think I know who you were -- I had on my usual Hawaiian shirt...)

Great holster choice. I have a few. Are you planning on building it yourself with one of the kits they offer or buying a pre-built holster? If you are handy at all, I suggest their "Quick Assemble" kit. Easy way to save $35.

I am going to put it together myself, i am pretty handy, plus I am cheap. I am planning to carry at the 3 o'clock position, so I just need to figure out if I want to go with the vertical mount or the one with the forward cant. I am leaning towards the one that is canted in case i want to carry on my back. What is your opinion?

I prefer the canted version. I usually carry in the 4 o'clock position and find it easier to draw with the firearm canted slightly forward.

What the H, if you are a friend of T's I can chastise for using CONCEAL and carry. In Mn it is just a carry permit as you have a choice of conceal or open carry. Symantics that make you smarter than the news media. :bolt:
