Picked up a Springfield XD-S

Postby arizona98tj on Thu Apr 04, 2013 8:33 pm

A couple of Saturdays ago, I stopped by the local Cabela's to check for some powder and SMKs. With nothing there on my list, I wandered over to the gun counter....it was pretty slow as I was there just after opening and everyone was still look for .22LR and 9mm.

Anyway, started chatting with one of the guys behind the counter. The conversation rolled around to Springfields and he mentioned they had just gotten in a pair of XD-S pistols, one bi-tone, the other black. I took the black one home....just because I could.

Aside from the mediocre trigger, I really like it. It's been to the range twice now and I am impressed how such a light weight, short barreled, major caliber pistol can shoot so well. I really love it. Here is my XD-S review if anyone wishes to check it out. Once my holster is finished, I'll let my PM9 take a vacation while this one assumes carry duty.

Congrats. I bought one for the wife and we have both enjoyed shooting this little accurate pistol.

I got my XDs a few weeks ago. My review. viewtopic.php?f=54&t=41487 I like my XDm .45ACP better and always will, but it's a nice gun, I don't regret the purchase, so I'll keep and use it.

Nice review by the way.

 Small world! I used to talk to you on JU and I used your site for a few things. I have a little TJ myself, but it's pretty neglected the last few years. Why on Earth are you on a MN gun board?

Evad,

I was born and raised in Minnesota. I have 80 acres outside of Bemidji and in 5 years, when I pull the plug here in AZ and retire, the Mrs. and I will be building a new house there and enjoying ourselves.

I have a Colt Mk IV Series 70 on the shelf in the safe so I figured I could reference it. FWIW, I am not a Colt fan boy. ;)

I had no idea, or had long forgotten. You will end up about 100 miles from a DNR park you are sure to enjoy if you bring the TJ with you.

I think the TJ will remain here in Arizona. She is 15 years old now, less than 100K miles on it....no rust....lots of aluminum underneath. She needs to stay salt (and rust) free until she finally calls it quits, which should be a long time, hopefully.

Besides, I got too many grand kids now....it is easier to take them shooting than it is off-roading. ;)

I am a eight year veteran of daily carry, and my favorite carry choice by far is the XD'S. the balance of this weapon coupled with the fiber optic front sight has helped me to get the best double tap grouping, outside of of a full sized 1911. Love this little gun and carry it everyday!

Now, here is my TJ.

Nice TJ there.

I drove over to the east side of the metro area today to meet a guy that used to live in the Hibbing area. He moved out here (AZ) around '05. Nice time...talks about off-roading and more so about guns. :) Picked up completed AR lower from him.
