Calling all Coonans...

Postby Rodentman on Fri Apr 05, 2013 5:59 pm

Well, they called me and after a year, it is almost done. Done to the point where they want their money, so I gave it to them. Someone, maybe it was Larry F had one at the CZ shoot at BPR and that is when I decided to get one. I think that was a year or so ago.

Anyway the wait is almost over but they told me I need to wait a month for the duracoat to cure before firing it. Wonder how they test it?

Congratulations, they are a lot of fun to shoot. I Bought mine at bills in December of 2011 and it about killed me to pay msrp, but it is what it is.

A few weeks ago I considered selling all my .357s for another gun purchase and I realized I could sell the revolvers, but I can't sell this. If you need a fix before you get yours, I'd be happy to meet up and let you shoot it.

Thanks for the offer but I'm so bent about that stinking Ruger now I can't see straight. I swear that MK series was designed by Jose Feliciano, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder. They may have sounded well together but the designed the worst takedown and assembly process in existence.

I figure I saved about $150 on the Coonan since it went up that much in the year I've been waiting.

That pretty much sums up the field strip. That's why my mk gets cleaned about every 2000 rounds, whether it needs it or not

Well as I say in my Little Bit Upset thread I bought the Majestic Arms kit. You can read the thread for details. I regret ever getting started on that project.

The .357 Magnum Ring O Fire is awesome. But we should tell people that your puny human eyes are not fast enough to see it; realtime there's just kinda an orange blur. On the other hand in a still photo you don't feel the shock wave.

Yes, true enough. I didn't notice the fire ring when I fired it, nor did I think the blast or recoil was difficult. It's a .357, and that's what I expected. Of course I've been spending a lot of time with the DE and 500 mag which are considerably more robust. Anyway, it will be a nice addition to the collection, after I bury the unmitigated POS Ruger MKIII in the back yard.

Not all .357 ammo makes good fireballs.
The ones I catch are with a high speed camera running at 600 frames/second. Regular video running at 30fps catches them sometimes..

I haven't waited over a year for anything other than The Rodentwoman before, and I'm sure this will be worth it.

Try it in low-light - You'll see it. That's if you don't flinch.
