Want to build g34 gen4 race gun

Postby RJWesleyIII on Tue Apr 16, 2013 8:59 am

Putting my GSSF coupon to good use...Looking for advice on what to do and what not to do. Are the TFO truglo sights any good? I have many glocks with goodies, but I've never done a comp glock. Any advise is really appreciated.

I'm sure it would help people to know which division and type of competition you're looking to shoot.

I don't know alot about the different types of competitions, but I would like to do the glock shoot at OGC, and start there.

I'm a relative novice and I've only had a G34 for a few days so keep that in mind...also, the class you intend to shoot will dictate what you can/can't do

I'm partial to the Sevigny Comp sights from Warren Tactical for super fast target acquisition.
I don't reload so I shoot whatever I can find. I'm playing with recoil springs now but it probably doesn't make a huge difference unless you're shooting those mouse fart, gamer rounds.
Tungsten guiderod adds a little weight up front
I don't know if your desired competition will allow trigger work but The Edge is a fantastic trigger. If I ever shoot limited, dropping one of these in is the first thing I will do.
If you're not buying an aftermarket trigger, a tube of Flitz and a quick buff with the Dremel (aka $0.25 trigger job) is handy -- or dry fire. A lot.
I like mag wells since they help make up for my sloppy fundamentals.

How are you liking the 34? I just ordered mine today from keepers! Can't wait to start shooting and modding!

I will be doing all my reloads.

I like the idea of the tungsten rod and the mag well. What mag well do you have?

I'll check out the warren sights as well

Thanks man!

I really like the 34 - great balance but I can't help but wonder how much better a 24 or 17L must be!

I'm trying my hand at Production class so the Warrens are the only mod I've done. My spring experimentation will probably be abandoned if I'm still getting a mix of ammo weights and loads.

I can't run a mag well in Production but the ones I've tried were from Zev and Dawson. One was on the small side. I really liked that it helped position my hand higher

TruGlo sights have a reputation of the fiber coming loose and falling out of the front. There are mods people have done to minimize this - using a clear silicon caulk underneath before mounting, or clear nail polish on top to help hold it in place, but I'd recommend you pass.

Get the sevigny sights from Warren tactical and a glocktriggers.com trigger. Spin some grip tape around that grip and start dry firing.

Thanks guys! I will check out the mag well. I really like the warren tac sites so I will order a set of those. I will also check out that trigger.

So what are the different classes for the glock shoot at OGC? I would like to see what you can mod for each class. I just became a member back at OGC, and would like to participate in a few of the events

So how do you guys have your sights setup? Competition rear site? Fiber optic or tritium, or just black serrated? I like the fiber optic front site with the comp rear.

I'm running mine box stock right now in the Burnsville league in production and really enjoy shooting it. Add a blade tech doh holster and I think you'll be plenty happy. I'm going to buy a glocktriggers Vogel setup but I'm going to get comfortable with the gun before adding that in. I have a lot of dry firing practice to do before I'll notice a difference for myself.

At all GSSF matches a stock Glock 34 would shoot the Competition division. A Glock 34 with aftermarket components would shoot the Unlimited division.
