Picked up a Doosey!

Postby MarkL on Sun May 19, 2013 7:04 pm

Not to be confused with a Daisy! :?

Having so much fun since last Thursday with it, I forgot to post what I bought after renting 10 different makes, models and calibers trying to figure out what should be my first.

Got me a Springfield .45 ACP TRP Operator :D

Oh, only a 1911. I thought you were talking about a Duesenberg car, now that is something to shout.

Well, a new Springfield 1911 is still a pretty good buy and it is especially pleasing when you get what you want after a lengthy search. Great choice and great times with your new "toy"!!!

Very nice gun! I love 1911's, and I want one like that Springfield real bad! Eventually I will have money again, but it will not be soon.

That would be the ultimate carry, Duesenberg and the Operator!

I have a TRP - one of the best pistols I own, hands down.

You will love it!

The J series was pretty spectacular but I am more inclined toward the so called "SJ" and "SSJ" models. When an engine produces more horsepower than can be measured at the time, one has to take a closer look. That the car also coined a phrase is another point in its favor.

One of my brother in law's father asked hat our favorite car was. His eyes lit up when I mentioned the Duesenberger and he went to pull out an old photo album. In it he was pictured sitting in the driver's seat of a J model, one of his greater memories. He was a mechanic of some note in his younger days and this was a car brought specifically to him to work on. I don't know who's vehicle it was but he was pretty proud of having worked on it. That I knew of such a car let alone it being my favorite impressed him greatly.

Looks nice, Mark. A member at my WI gun club was shooting one a couple weeks ago. He got it over the winter and was shooting it for the second time. I asked how it was and he grinned insanely and said "smooth."

He was knocking over bowling pins pretty well too. 8-)

Yea, I like it alot and I managed to score 200 rounds for it yesterday, so now I don't feel like Barney Fife!

I don't intend to carry this one, this will be my pride and joy for sometime to come. Next month I'll start researching for my carry piece.
