High Capacity Carry Option.

Slide showed up at 6pm, it was mated to the frame by 7:50.

Nope. I shot another 160rds or so through it on Saturday after sighting it in, and still haven't cut the slide serrations.

Now I'm going to get the frame cut on this one (needs the ramp cutout done), the slide cut down (this will be a 4.25" gun on a 5" recoil system), and if I end up putting sights in it I'll do those too before tilting the head and rotating the vise for slide cuts (it's just easier not retramming the mill until I can get them both done).

I've been toying with the idea of not putting sights on this one. I'll be trying that when I test fire it and see how well that works.

Didn't check the breech face before fitting - they sent me a 9mm slide in a .45 wrapper. Email has been sent to Brazo's. We'll see what they come back with.

Edit:

After thinking for a minute, I decided to see how the old slide fit to the new frame (STI runs tight tolerances, right?) and it fits pretty good. I think if they send me a new (correct) slide, I should be able to get it fit up nicely just stoning the bottom.

Pic shows 9mm case held in the breech face, and a .45 on top.

Brazo's said STI'd take care of it and dumped responsibility on them. Guess who's not getting any more money out of me.

STI says they'll swap it out no problem, and issued a call tag, but won't send me the right one until they get this one back. It's better than Brazo's remedy, but I'd really like to get the new one en route as soon as possible. I was hoping to be test firing this weekend and getting both guns off to plating next week. That probably won't happen now. :(

New slide showed up today as promised. Huge kudo's to STI!

Got the slide fitted, got the barrel fitted, and now am working on chopping it down.

Actually, this stuff files pretty easily with the fine cut files. It's the coarser ones that slide off it.

Dehorning should be done tonight. Chamber still needs a bit of buffing, but it's feeding 80% right now (ramp angle still needs some profile work).

Range test hopefully in the next couple days. :D

They both need finish sanding, but that'll have to wait until I get more emery cloth tomorrow.

Who needs sights on a "Belly Gun" ?

He said above that he would add sights before adding slide grooves soon after swiveling head of his mill.
He still needs practice on "re-tramming the head in", some mills can be a real pain.

I can get it done in about 10 minutes or less Doug. I'm just pragmatic about it. It's perfect, so I'm leaving it until I have all my other work done. The vise is set to parallel at .002 over 5" (which means it's perpendicular to some fragment of a fraction of a degree) and with the swivel base, that's what's holding me back (it's a pain to get locked in straight). I don't have a swivel for my 688's, only the POS chiwan vise I use on the manual mill.

As for the sights question: I'm not sure yet on this one. I may put them on, I may not. I'm probably going to flat top it a little either way though.

The reason there's still no serrations on the gamer gun is because I can't settle on a pattern and I started building this one before forcing myself to make a decision.

Got the serrations done on both guns last night and did a little flat top on the .45.
