How long have you waited?

Postby sawgrass on Wed Jul 31, 2013 10:15 pm

How long have you waited when ordering a gun?
What was it and was it worth it?

I sent a deposit on one today. The dealer placed an order for a similar gun in March.
He is able to change that order to my specs so that will cut the current wait time to 13 months!
I can't honestly think of anything that I've ever purchased that I waited that long for.

It's a Govt. Wilson Combat CQB Elite with a few upgrades. It should be worth it.
At least I have time to save some $$. :|

I waited about three weeks (and had to practically babysit the seller) for a Hi standard Double Nine. Well worth it though. Cost me $270 after paying both transfers, and the gun is LNIB.

ETA: I could never wait over a year! My second choice is on a store shelf somewhere nearby.
I got nothin'

I've only ever seen one gun similar to what I ordered and it was sold to someone 15 minutes ahead of me, out of state.
That sucked a little, but big Kudos to the dealer for doing the right thing. It was about 5 miles from my house and I missed it!
The only dealer I've seen locally with a WC is Tractus Arms.

Three weeks isn't too bad. We just waited about 4 months for a couple of M1 Garands. That felt long to me.

I forgot about my Garand. Got one from CMP, and I think it took longer than 3 weeks.

Cabela's had some WC's a couple years back. Bobbed tail commanders. 2650ish IIRC. Nice guns.

From when I shipped the box of parts, to having a custom 2011 in hands was 9 days. It felt like 9 years.

I got delayed on a background check once. That WC sounds like it will be worth the wait though.

I know it's off topic but why does this happen? I get delayed a few minutes for manual verification every time I get a transfer or make a purchase.

I think it happens for a lot of reasons. Maybe someone with the same name, DWI, Security Clearance so the person answering the phone can't access your file...
I am always delayed at lunch time and weekends, but have worked in some interesting places around DC and PA.

Have you seen Wilson Combats one piece rounded mag well? It's not quite a bob but is supposed to help with printing.
I ordered the standard one. I don't care for the look of a bobbed tail.

Here's a pic. IMO it looks better from the back than the side.

This 10mm has one and shows a side view. It's too sharp to my eye in the pic.

Interesting. Thanks. Sounds like I'll never know then. At least the "delay" is only 3-5 minutes usually.
