What would buy for a 9mm DA\SA ?

Postby yodalego on Fri Dec 27, 2013 6:22 pm

I have a 9MM S&W sigma. Just bought a Glock, boy is there a difference between the two much higher quality in the Glock, but it's still striker fired. What would you look at in 9MM if your going to buy a new 9mm with a DA\SA with hammer.
PS: probably would not carry a 9MM just looking for something to shoot at paper, after all 9mm is the new .22 cost wise. I would also like something smaller than a full size pistol.

Buy a Sig and never look back.

Why would you not carry a 9mm? Don't let the hard held caliber religious wars by some people interfere with your range of viable options.

Sig is the way to go.

CZ makes a fine pistol. Lots of positive reviews in regards to accuracy and reliability. I am a big fan of my SP-01. Whatever feels and shoots best in your hands, and fits in your budget is probably your best bet. I know the above mentioned Sigs are really nice guns, but they never quite felt right to me.

I'm not a sig fan, had one did not think it was anything special.

9mm DA/SA can't got wrong with a CZ75 or a Betetta 92.

CZ has a few options in this regards. The PO-7 duty, the P-01, and the PCR off the top of the head....Do I have to admit I am a CZ fan boy now?

SP-01 or 92fs sound like good choices to me. I'd like to own both.

SP-01 is a definition of a range 9mm, if you are avoiding single action 1911s that is :). It is crazy accurate - even with my limited skills.

For smaller size, look at CZ PCR or P-01. But you lose "S" for Super Special ;)
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

If I wanted a 9mm to play with, and not carry. I would with out a doubt buy a Springfield Range Officer. It's a 1911 with target sights, and they just started making it in 9mm.

I have one in .45 and with over 3k down the tube not one hiccup ever..

Cost us around 750 I would guess.

Sig SP2022 is a well-regarded and inexpensive option. If you want the full metal treatment, P226/229/etc will serve well but cost more. If the real requirement is just DA/SA rather than a hammer being a requirement, the Walther P99 AS or P99c AS would be an option. (Striker-fired DA/SA.)

Have a 226... had a spo1. Not to say the spo1 was bad, it just was not as nice as my sig. Really cant go wrong with either.

Don't overlook the older metal framed 3rd Gen S&W's. 3913 for the single stack compact, lots of other models available.
Good looking, reliable pistols.
Remember, gun control is not about guns, it's about control.

Be honest with yourself, and just come to grips with the fact that eventually you're going to own a whole bunch of guns. Significantly more than you ever thought you would when you first started shooting. The question isn't which DA/SA you want to buy, it's which one you want to buy next. When you look at it from this point of view, you'll realize that as long as the manufacturer has a reputation for quality, there really isn't a wrong answer. You're always going to be thinking about what your next gun is going to be.

A Sig SP2022 was my 1st handgun and I love it. Great trigger pull, thousands of rounds of any type of ammo with literally zero failures of any kind.
