CZ 52 Firing Pin

So I've been reading some forums and articles and it seems that the firing pin for the CZ 52 is usually the first part to break. Someone on another forum said that it'd be best to get a spare surplus one "while they're still around". Have any of you had troubles with Tokarev firing pins? Should I go ahead and get one just in case? They aren't all that expensive but I'd rather not spend money if there's no reason to.

There are a lot of 52's out there so I don't think the pins will be hard to find for the next 5-10 years. If you have several guns it probably wouldn't be worth stocking up right away. If you shoot this one every trip to the range then I would invest in an extra. Wait till you order other items because the shipping would be expensive if you just order a pin or two.

I had a 52 for several years and put better than a thousand rounds of surplus through it and never had an issue. I have never known anyone that had this problem but it is a common complaint on the interwebs.

My problem with stocking up is finding the item several years after I buy it...

See if places like Cajun Gun Works or CZCustom make or carry spares and decide accordingly. Perhaps CZ USA can tell you if parts are available to them, they are the principle US importer.

It also depends on your skill and comfort levels. Would you be doing the replacement or farming it out? Check with your gunsmith if he can get spares if that's your plan.

I checked Cajun, CZCoustoms, and CZ USA. I couldn't find any firing pins that said they were for the 52. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places?

Can you find an after market pin? I look at it this way replacement parts are replacement part. But that's just me.

I found 1 or 2 after market pins advertising that they won't break like the stock ones do (one even came with a lifetime guarantee).

I think the issue is dry firing, which can break the pin probably a result of corrosive ammo from a surplus one. There are aftermarket pins that are much stronger that fixes that issue. I think there's a decocking issue too with that model too.
It's a nice shooter though.
