1911 apostasy

Postby Sietch on Mon Apr 28, 2014 6:55 pm

I used to be a 1911 purist until last year when I bought one of my buddy's old beaten up 3rd gen G22s. I've since fallen in love with these ugly things and bought another (and soon another). I'm now considering selling a 1911 in order to buy more Glocks and parts.

The Sietch of last year would have equated this to trading high-grade cocaine for low-grade crack, but now I don't even care. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yugo's a bit more of a Saturday night special- cheap and disposable. Glocks do what they do satisfactorily, like a Corolla, or a pipe wrench….

Nothing against a Glock, I own one. But selling a 1911 for a Glock is like dumping your trophy wife for a $20 hooker, both can get the job done but which one would you rather be seen with.

To be fair, it's more like trading for two hookers, plus boob jobs for each, but your point is well taken.

Probably have several guys interested in your trophy wife when she becomes available.

Hey, what you like is what you like. Myself, I don't care for SA-only firearms but that's my personal preference.

I hear ya. I was basically drawn into handgun culture by the writings of Jeff Cooper, so I was a true-believer 1911 cult member for years. Though in my case I switched to wheelguns because walking and chewing gum and working a manual safety and counting past 6 were too much for me.

My Dr said I'd die of apostasy if I didn't lose some weight.

The opposite is happening to me. I picked up a Ruger SR1911 and now I want a smaller version. Too bad that Ruger doesn't make one. Mrs. LePetomane is looking at the Springfield EMP.

Don't let the wife shoot an EMP or you will be buying one. Trust me I speak from experience.

That said if she wants to shoot one sometime, I would be happy to let her try the one I have in 9mm.

I didn't let mine shoot an EMP. She bought a Kimber Ultra Carry instead.

Thanks for the offer. She bought one.
