A little stipple?

Postby TTS on Sat Aug 23, 2014 8:49 pm

I finally got the balls to try recontouring and stippling one of my old Glock's. It's not perfect, but I am happy with the overall outcome.

A little stipple?

Is that really grippy or did you smooth it out some?
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

I used a very light stipple so it is grippy, but not uncomfortably so. Less grippy than skate tape, more grippy than a Gen4.

Looks nice! Did you grind off any of the original side grip or any of the front or back marks?

Also, I'd be interested to see what your tip looks like on your soldering iron (I assume)

I'm getting ready to do mine, but I'm working on a design to stencil into it.

I only ground off the finger grooves... I regret not doing the side panels and front/back strap. I used a very fine point on the soldering iron.

A little stipple?

That looks amazing. I tried it on a frame once, turned out decent but not great. I had my EDC 19 stippled by Ehren at Atomic and he did an outstanding job. I couldn't find a flaw in it at all.

It's a great option for certain types of carry. I now carry appendix, so it works great when wearing undershirts, a little rough without. If you wear non-cotton shirts (polyester) or the like, it tends to stick to it quite a bit which allows it to print nicely...

I would definitely do it again. It's grippy, but not Overly grippy.
If you want a guarantee, buy a toaster.
