Hello all,

Thinking about getting a Sip P320 carry. Does anyone have experience with this gun? I heard that dig requires premium ammo. Is that true?

Thanks for the help!

What defines "premium" ammo? I would love to hear more about this. It is not like their is an octane rating on ammo to define one over the other. Just because something costs more or is from costlier components does not mean it is loaded to a higher pressure than another load. Pressure and bullet shape I would think would be the 2 most common differences that could cause functional issues.

We are selling a ton of them. I own 2 myself and love them.
They burn through all the ammo I've tried. PMC, Rem UMC, BB, Estate
My 40 is one of the nicest shooting polymer 40's I've shot.

A Sig will eat anything you feed it.

That being said, if you feed it a bunch $hitty dirty cheap foreign crap, you deserve to be slapped. If you want to shoot crap ammo, buy a crap gun. You shouldn't serve dog food with your fine china.

I'm just wondering if the p320 is a good gun. I'm thinking of picking one up tomorrow.

I haven shot one myself, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. I wouldn't hesitate if you're interested.

I haven't shot them, but they look nice and I hear good things. Go to southwest and check them out for sure. Top gun shop on my list lately.

I have not had any issues with my compact but I only have about 200 rounds of American Eagle and UMC through it. I'm really loving this gun too

A us-made Sig P320 is about as far from fine china as you can get. A Sig P210, on the other hand, is a little closer to that ideal.

Nice write up. Similar to others I've read. The failure to lock back that the author mentioned could have been caused by improper support hand placement (being new to the gun) interfering with the slide lock. It could also be caused by friction of the follower in a new magazine. I always use a paint stirring stick to exercise the follower up and down a few dozen times to polish down any friction points inside the mag body, and then blow it out with compressed air afterward. It's a good practice to do this with every new magazine, regardless of which pistol it's for.

I'm not a huge fan of striker fired pistols, but if I were going to get one, this would be it.

My agency just authorized the P320 for officers to carry on duty earlier this year (along with Glock). The P320 has an issue with hitting slightly left at 25yds and beyond, which Sig can't fully figure out (but is fully aware of the issue). I have heard grumblings of some durability issues with certain components but I have yet to hear specifics. That being said, our rangemaster has over 10k rounds downrange on his P320 and it's still working. We shoot Federal American Eagle for target ammo and Federal Tactical Bonded for duty ammo.

The only major issue I've heard is with the placement of the support hand thumb. The way that some people grip their gun, they wind up pinning the slide lock lever down and the gun won't lock back on an empty mag. This has caused some guys to sell their P320s and either go back to the M&P or go over to Glock.

Go shoot a P320 and decide for yourself.
