STI 2011...

Postby Rodentman on Sat Jan 02, 2016 4:54 pm

Does anyone have any experience with or opinions of STI's 2011 offerings, or of their products in general?

Thx, RM 8-)

A lot of the custom builders use their parts as a start for USPSA open and limited guns.

If you are serious about out look at Brazo's website, he sells full custom and STI's that he has worked over.

They are great guns.

They are the basis of most high capacity competition pistols.

The base factory versions have a bit less fit and finish than the custom ones. However, they are reliable and functional, and at the risk of Sam's ire, do tolerate much higher pressures than standard guns. (i.e. IPSC major loads)

I would not get a .45 in one as it is not as high of round capacity as a para, and your resale is limited. You can always sell a .40 with iron sights or a comped .38 super with optics to a competition shooter.

They do a good job at STI.

A pal of mine in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia has a 9mm Edge and had problems initially. He needed to tune the magazines, to get it to run right.

After he tuned the mags and broke it in, he says it runs like a champ. He also shoots an STI Steelmaster, that he loves.

This one just popped up on Armslist!

Arnzen has the best Apeiro price I've found. MBX .45 2011 magazines (140mm) hold 18 rounds.

As you probably guessed, I have relieved Arnzen of the burden of carrying the Apeiro 40 in their inventory. It did not come with the Recoil Master takedown too. It's not Arnzen's fault so I won't beat them up. I have one coming, and it should be here today. I really found no way to remove the spring without such a tool.

The bull barrel tool for the EMP fits but is too short.

Anyway, I am anxious to fire it. The fit and finish are impressive, as is the price. The mags aint cheap; standard mag holds 14 rounds. Extended mags are available.

Congrats! I'm waiting for the MBX .45 mags to become available.
In .40 their 126mm holds 18-19 and 140mm holds 20-21. But, they are even more not cheap than STI's.

I got the tool to remove the recoil spring assembly. Didn't get to the range with it yet, but maybe tomorrow.
