1911 sight issue...

Is there anyway to fix this with a new "insert" or do I need a new sight? Couldn't happen on a cheap gun; this is my Nighthawk. I know I could send the slide to them, but I haven't had good luck with their service in the past, I am sorry to say.

Ha, 5 minute epoxy is a better solution....knock the other insert out with a small punch, then fill both holes with epoxy and spray paint the sight flat black like its supposed to be.

I am aware of three options to fix this (assuming you decide to pass on epoxy ;) ):
- Whoever made the sight can replace the vial, I heard of people sending their slides to Trijicon before.
- Give Bob a call and give Nighthawk customer service another chance.
- Replace the sight either locally or by sending to somebody like Dawson.

I would love to see the whole gun, which model is this?

That's really disappointing quality for what a Nighthawlk costs.

I'd contact their customer service and raise Holy hell.

Like Rip Van Winkle said above- there’s no way I allow Nighthawk to get away scot free from this. They’d hear from me just to preserve my sanity.

I emailed Nighthawk and attached the photo of the sight. The gun is the Denominator model:

Grips are genuine ivory.

Great to see your collection extends into pretty guns too! Let us know how it goes.

RM

Where did you get real ivory grips?

I’ve been thinking about getting something in that line of thing, but no one seems to have an answer.

I got the grips, and mammoth ones as well, from:

http://www.danchinnock.com/1911-ivory-grips.htm

He doesn't make many and sells out almost immediately. I think there are a few customers of his who snap up virtually everything and then resell. Anyway I was lucky enough to get the ivory.

I heard from Bob at Nighthawk and filled out the return request. He will send me a label for me to return the slide.

Yes, contrary to popular opinion, I DO have some nice firearms.

Thanks to Rodentman, I've had the opportunity to not only see some of his beautiful handguns, but he has even let me shoot a few. If handguns were my choice (I'm more into rifles), I'd love to have just a portion of his collection.

RM, those grips are SWEET!

I would call Nighthawk and not only ask for warranty repair, I'd also ask them to send a call tag to pick up the slide. You shouldn't have to pay a penny with a pistol at that price point.

Nighthawk sent a UPS label this AM and the slide is already off to them at N/C to me. I assume I'll get a new sight; I doubt they'd replace the vial, I think they probably don't have those parts. Besides then the vials would be of different age and possibly brightness. For what the gun cost I'm sure they'll replace the sight in total. I have emailed them just now regarding what they intend to do.....

Nighthawk confirms they will replace the entire sight. They will have the slide on Wednesday.
