I have several .40 handguns and have no issues with the round or the firearms. I prefer 10mm and .357 (and for Coonan). But I see no reason to denigrate the .40. The Internut is filled with peoples' opinions and I take them with a pound of salt, if I even bother to watch.

To me it has always been a popularity contest with the consequences of losing being higher ammo prices.
