Would you run 450 smc though your high end 1911 or polymer pistol?

Double Tap 450 SMC:
450 SMC is supposed to give 10mm performance out of a 45 acp.
From 1st link below " ....185 gr JHP to 1350 fps, a 230 gr JHP to 1200 and a 255 gr hardcast to 1100 ..."
" ...How can they do this in a chamber designed for 45 ACP you ask? They use a special cartridge case. The case is essentially a cut down .308. This gives it thicker walls to hold up to the charge ..."

That is what I have a 10mm 1911 for.

I may have experimented with something like this in my misspent youth, but even then I would have never done it with a high end pistol.
I will never apologize for being an American.

To clarify if you are buying the ammo I would shoot it in your high end 1911 ;)

If I had to run some of this ammo through, I would use the 1911 (with aluminum grips installed) vs a polymer gun. Better safe than sorry.

Seems like something that will put a good amount of wear and tear on a firearm...

Forgot to mention. I would also install a flat bottom firing pin stop in that 1911.

I would not. The time it would take to balance the springs to the load would not be worthwhile and would add a ton of wear before I got it right.

Nope.

I’ve got other guns to do that with.

.45 win mag, 50 AE, 10mm....

Why make the 45acp something it isn’t?
