Shield Vs. Sig P365

Postby jamesryan on Mon Nov 09, 2020 7:21 am

I’m thinking about getting another carry pistol. I have had a shield before and loved it. Looking for something with a smaller profile than the m&pc. I’ve never shot the p365. I’m specifically considering the original shield, not the 2.0. What are y’all’s opinions? Not looking for anything outside of the shield or 365.

In my opinon, the P365 is about the greatest carry pistol ever invented. It's tiny, well designed, has great ergonomics, is completely reliable (at least mine is), and carries 11 rounds. I carried Kahr pistols for many years due to the size and concealability. The tradeoff of size for capacity was acceptable for me. The Sig is basically the same size as a PM40/PM9, but it carries 5 more rounds. I love this thing.

Also, are you associated with our other new member Stonegraham?

I have a Shield, P365 and P365 XL. The Shield and P365XL are closer to the same size. I prefer the P365XL over the P365 because of its longer grip and longer sight radius. I use the P365 if I want to pocket carry, otherwise it is the P365XL in a Milt Sparks VersaMax 2 IWB.

To me the few more rounds in a P365 versus the Shield is not significant (I always carry a spare magazine for possible malfunctions rather than more rounds).

Use either that you shoot the best. Both are very reliable.

FYI: I have found that the P365XL fits most of my compact 1911 holsters.
Because I care, I carry.

I’ve shot both, I prefer the sig personally but it is probably a horse a price.
