Welcome aboard John, I see you have met one of our resident village idiots. The good news is there are only three more to figure out... ;)

Look at how many Glocks you see for sale (or even for resale) in the classifieds over here... Now look how many 1911s... Coincidence? I think not :P

that's right, all the 1911s blow up, the glocks on the other hand are sturdy and hold up to abuse, thus, they're able to be resold lol. :D

Oh, I've thought of it, but I don't think even I could lie that much and to that many people lol.

A Glock is a piece of machinery without a soul. A 1911 is beauty, grace, and elegance in a pistol. It has a soul.

That said, a Glock is more reliable than some 1911s. Some 1911s are just as reliable as a Glock.

Pinnacle says that he will never buy another 1911 of lesser quality than a Nighthawk. I can see his logic. I'd also have to say that a mil-spec 1911 is just as reliable as a Nighthawk (yes, without the features, accuracy, and purdyness).

For a range gun, I'd take a 1911 over a Glock any day. For self-defense, I'd take one of my 1911s over a Glock any day.

I'm with you. Glocks point about a foot high for me. I don't care how reliable a gun is if I can't shoot it.

Another board I frequent has a thread about 140 pages long on Winchester vs. Marlin.

I sense a nascent thread of epic proportions beginning here.

The difference is that it makes only a difference to the operator, nothing more nothing less. To me a lot of entry level 1911 platforms are problematic. And, while I could buy a slew of G17's or G20's for the price of NH Talon. And, I could buy bunch of ammo, too. Nonetheless, it is what it is a personal choice. There are two guns of the self loader variety that I have ultimate confidence in HK USPf in 45ACP and G17 in 9mm. Having shot piss pot of rounds thru various 1911's in the past, and I will qualify this that some inroads have been made in the out of the box reliability of 1911's.

Many people do not have a good mastery of the manual of arms of a 1911, and that concerns me.

:pickme:

I won't carry any handgun with a manual safety.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.
