Need some simple gunsmithing

Postby jdege on Tue Oct 17, 2023 8:36 pm

I have a set of tritium night sights that I'd like to install on my PM9.

The PM9 has dovetailed sights, so replacing them should be simple enough. My choice, then, is to either watch a couple of YouTube videos and try it myself, or to find some who'd do it for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone in the Cities who does work like this?

Kahns are known for slides that can be damaged when installing sights. Should use a sight installation tool made to fit their slide.
Because I care, I carry.

You mean I don't use a screwdriver and a hammer?

I have one of the generic ebay sight pushers that’s worked pretty well for most slides. It didn’t budge a rear XD sight. I have not attempted to change my PM9 sights since they are known to be difficult. Local gunsmiths I would use would be Flint and Capras.

I have an MK3 model and it works well. Ordered it after I could not move a Kimber rear sight with a small hammer

I am making no endorsement at all about the following, I'm just posting it for general knowledge.
Temu is a site I ran across that has things at VERY low prices. I've bought some simple hand tools from them and they arrived quickly and seemed of good quality but they were hand tools and not at all precision stuff which a sight pusher would be. Anyway here's some links and remember, let the buyer beware.

$18 pusher

Temu is one of those CCP-owned sites I will never use.

You'll buy a ChiCom press from (Mao) Harbor Freight but not from Temu?

Or is it the website you won't use?
I will never apologize for being an American.
