Mossberg 5500

Postby tacticalninja32 on Sun Sep 20, 2009 8:13 pm

I have a friend that has an issue with his 5500, after the gun goes bang it will not eject the spent casing, after that it becomes difficult to try to eject the casing manually, he also notices the bolt appears to not seat sqaure in the chamber,
Have anyone seen this?

Here's a short discussion of the Mossberg 5500. I noted that he had a problem with the O ring in the gas system. Makes sense to me that an elastomeric (rubber) part of that vintage may have issues.

Here is a schematic for the 5500. Notice the parts associated with the gas piston, e.g. #38 & #39 inner and outer seal ring, #41 forward seal ring, and #41 O ring. The O ring is listed as in stock and costs $3.40.

A teardown and cleaning of this part of his gun might give you a look at these parts. :)
