A newbie here...

What does a steel shoot consist of?

Shooting steel rather than lead or copper.................

Kidding.....IT is in some ways similar to other games, where you have a series of targets (more later) usually that are made of steel that you shoot in a sequence (COF). It is timed and you do several subsequent rounds and take the best times for a score.

The steel targets range from reactive (poppers that fall down or move), stationary targets, and plates on a rail. I'm sure that there is far more to it.

Anyhow, just to give you a short answer.............

We shoot at steel targets that go "ping" when hit like these. Some of the targets are pepper poppers that go "ping" and then fall down. Last time there were four stages of five targets each. Every participant shoots each stage four times with the worst time being thrown out for each stage. Best combined time wins. At the end of the day after everyone is through shooting all the stages, we set up two identical courses side-by-side for a versus competition. Each person shoots four times total for that. I shot around 120 rounds getting through the four stages and maybe another 60 on the versus portion. YMMV ;)

I got progressively worse throughout the day. I think I shot 23 round on the first stage, 28 on the second, 32 on the third and 36 on the fourth (hit the final target with my last round after a bunch of misses). Maybe the stages were just more difficult, maybe it was the sun.

If you like shooting and hanging out with fun and interesting people, you won't be disappointed. I'm not that fun or interesting, but a lot of the others are. ;)

good thing you asked! I was thinking I should find out how much money I need but forgot all about it. Knowing me I would show up with $1.57 in change and have to clean guns to pay my way
