Seeing as how I am currently sans firearm (I had to sell them all when I moved to Chicago) I'd need the PTP first

You might not. Check with some of the instructors on this forum. IIRC, ttousi has a "loaner" gun that he will let students use for a small fee (maybe only the cost of the ammunition). I'm sure some of the other instructors on here would be accommodating, as well.

Another option is to show up at some of the get togethers, and get to know some of the members. Someone may be willing to let you borrow (one of) their guns for the class.

The problem here is that there is no statutory penalty for their delay (unlike the PTC).

Yes, the law says 7 days. You can call Marc Berris. And they can tell him to stuff it...because there is no penalty for it.

PTC, you have legal recourse and it can cost them a decent amount of cash for screwing around with you. PTP = no risk.

SPPD at its finest. One of the reasons I advise anyone living in St. Paul to just get the PTC right away if they can afford it. Same waiting period, unfortunately.

Most of us do indeed have loaners available, either for free or a small cost. Example, my students are welcome to use one of my firearms, they just need to pay for the ammunition for the qualification.

Lots of others around here are the same way. Some charge a nominal fee for wear and tear, some don't...no big deal either way.

It would be REALLY sad if a Ramsey Co Carry permit came in before your PTP.

I have a class Feb 6 in Oakdale and I have loaners. bring commercial ammo. No reloads ;-)
private or small grou permit classes available

Still no permit. Unfortunately I have been so busy with work, that I haven't had the chance to pester the SPPD more.
