Again speaking from total ignorance, it seems unlikely to me that it would matter for handgun holster designs as I imagine them. If somebody wants to make a rifle holster or something, obviously that's different. That's a good idea. A friend of mine and I dumped our canoe in a rapids once, and as we were getting reorganized on shore afterwards, he realized that his fillet knife had sliced through its leather sheath and cut his leg. He hadn't felt it, partly because it was really sharp, but mostly because we were in ice water.
